Yushi-Con is a multi-genre anime and gaming convention taking place at East Stroudsburg, in the northeastern Pennsylvania region. Previously hosted by East Stroudsburg University’s Anime Club with support from the ESU Game Society, and currently hosted independently by student alumni and community members, Yushi-Con has been put together in the hopes of bringing not only the anime fandom but people from all fandom together in the northeastern Pennsylvania and Greater New York area.
Yushi-Con’s goal is to bring the animation, gaming, and geek industry-at-large to the Monroe County and Poconos area. They bring high-value industry guests and presenters from all over the tri-state area, such as Mike Pollock, the voice of Dr. Eggman from Sonic the Hedgehog. Yushi-Con has a vision to breathe a blossoming creative presence into the Poconos and Greater New York area, and give the locals a chance to network with other passionate animation and gaming fans and creators alike.
This year, Yushi-Con will be hosted at the Science and Technology Building at East Stroudsburg University, in East Stroudsburg, PA on October 13. It will be a full-day event with programming and presentations for all hours!
About No Pause Tournaments
Shamelessly bred from a rash idea, friends, co-workers, and founders Zack Dondey and Ben Lacen spilled their passion for video games in a competitive gaming tournament and broadcasting group called No Pause Tournaments. Named after the inability to pause in competitive fighting game rulesets, both founders began diligently working on a brand of tournaments, streams, and events that would focus on nurturing casual and new players to cultivate a community of friends that all resonated with something that helped them cope of their hardest struggles and helped alleviate the boredom of their day-to-day minutia by giving them something to work towards; competition. Being big fans of physical and digital sporting events, Dondey and Lacen worked hard to establish Northeastern Pennsylvania’s greatest tournament group with the belief that healthy competition for all levels of players would benefit everyone and bring them together. After a string of local successes, Dondey trusted Lacen to take over the project he started, to further pursue his career in music. Still close, Lacen now solely runs the show hosting events in New York City, The Pocono Mountains, Allentown, New Jersey, and Philadelphia and constantly attempts to increase the quality of tournaments with the goal that everyone should enjoy it. With Yushi-Con opening the doors to No Pause Tournaments, the team is excited to bring their unique brand of tournaments to East Stroudsburg this October.
