The UK headquarters of Zynga just concluded its first-ever mentorship program, a successful partnership with the Black Zynga Union and Esports Youth Club. Aspiring young creators from a variety of backgrounds were given first-hand exposure to jobs in gaming and mentorship from industry heavyweights influencing the future of play throughout the five-day project.

During the week, six students and members of the EYC team alternated between Zynga’s London office and EYC’s headquarters, engaging in practical learning in areas such as product management, HR, art and animation, and brand marketing. Black Zynga Union members gave motivational seminars, offering practical guidance on launching creative careers and developing your gaming voice.
Nicole Jackson, UK Chair, Black Zynga Union stated, “We’re excited to welcome the Esports Youth Club to NaturalMotion! It’s a fantastic chance to explore our games and get insider knowledge about the mobile gaming world from the people who make it happen. The future leaders of our industry are out there, and by offering mentorship and a look at the variety of opportunities available, we aim to help them pursue their passion for gaming and turn it into a rewarding career.”
Every participant left the program feeling more knowledgeable, self-assured, and motivated to pursue a career in gaming, according to post-program questionnaires. And this is only the start! Next year, plans are already in place to welcome even more fresh talent and broaden the mentorship.
