“Maybe Tim couldn’t read the sign, maybe he didn’t know what a piranha was, maybe he was just an idiot.”
Clearly, this is the game of the season.
I really enjoyed this game – Reventure by Pixelatto is your typical, save the princess RPG but with a comedic twist. It takes a jab at retro games like Zelda and Dragon Quest but isn’t given specific enemies to fight, if at all; the worst enemy you face is yourself as there is no actual fighting involved, only death.
You play as a little guy named Tim, the hero of the story. Basically, he is on a never ending quest to save the princess but as to actually getting to her is another matter. I actually felt bad for the little guy; whoever wrote the dialogue for this game kudos to you cause this is some grade A writing my sir.
Tim is susceptible to a lot of different endings mostly ending in his death including but not limited to tripping, harakiri, spontaneous combustion, burned, falling into a bottomless pit, & crushed. There are a hundred different endings to this game, all unique and varied – you do have to take into account what routes you choose to take unless you want to wind up dead. I don’t want to go into too much spoilers but I did lose my s*** when I was crushed by all the weight of the items I was carrying. It was so out of the blue. I never even bothered taking that into consideration when playing other RPG’s. How do RPG protagonists carry all their stuff?? It was ironic and so realistic I eventually laughed by the end of it.
The best things about each ending is that depending on what happens to Tim, his ailments come along with him, he has a cast on in one of the endings and in another he’s bald. It’s actually quite cute. I just wished there was a quick save option so you don’t have to start the quest all over, but of course that’s what the game is. That is how you are able to get the different unique outcomes so I really don’t mind it; it did feel kinda tedious spawning in the bedroom again.
Reventure will keep you entertained with its constant 4th wall breaking and pop culture references. Remember that the goal of the game is to reach the princess, I haven’t gotten that far yet but I can’t wait to see it.

Hello there, I got into video games at a very young age and my first console was actually the Super Nintendo, I still have it to this day and have quite a collection of games for it. I play a lot of games ranging from different genres like fighting games, i.e Tekken and Street Fighter, RPG's i.e Dark Souls and Final Fantasy, side-scrollers, visual novels, MMO's, Shooters, and Horror. The more violent and story drove the better!. But, as I mentioned before my range for videogame genres has no bounds, I'll play anything as long as it's fun!
