GUNNAR Glasses Special Look by Nick Navarro
Spending long hours in front of a monitor has become part of everyday life for a lot of us, whether it’s for gaming, editing videos, working remotely, or simply browsing online late into the night. Because of that, blue-light glasses have gone from being a niche accessory to something many people genuinely rely on for comfort during extended screen time. Recently, GUNNAR was kind enough to send over several pairs of glasses for me to check out, ranging from sleek everyday designs to more stylish gaming-focused collaborations. After spending time looking over each pair, I wanted to put together a general overview discussing their design, comfort, lens options, pricing, and the kind of audience each model feels best suited for. From subtle lifestyle frames to the eye-catching “Cyberpunk 2077” edition that immediately became my personal favorite, this lineup showcases just how varied GUNNAR’s approach to gaming and computer eyewear has become over the years.
Cyberpunk 2077 Dex (available to pre-order HERE)
Out of the five, this is easily the standout pair visually. The GUNNAR Cyberpunk 2077 glasses absolutely lean into the neon-drenched sci-fi aesthetic of Cyberpunk 2077 without looking overly gimmicky. The angular frame design, metallic detailing, and yellow-tinted lenses give them a very distinct “Night City” vibe that immediately separates them from standard blue-light glasses. What I like most about these is that they feel like collector’s items while still being genuinely functional. They have that premium gamer-tech appearance, but they’re also practical for long gaming sessions, streaming, editing, or just spending hours in front of a monitor. The amber lenses especially help cut down eye strain during nighttime use. The downside is that they’re definitely bold. These aren’t subtle office glasses. They’re made for people who want others to notice them. If someone prefers minimalist or professional-looking eyewear, these may feel too flashy.
Clix Gaming Goggles · $74
A streamer-focused square-frame design built for gaming sessions with a stylish hybrid metal and polymer construction. The Clix glasses are probably the most modern-looking pair of the bunch. Designed in collaboration with Fortnite creator Cody Conrod, these frames have a sleek square shape that works well both for gaming and casual everyday wear. What stands out immediately is how lightweight they appear despite having a mixed polymer and stainless-steel construction. They have a cleaner, more contemporary design than a lot of older gaming glasses, which often looked overly bulky or aggressively “gamer.” These feel more wearable in public. At around $74, they’re definitely positioned as a premium collaboration model. The different lens options are a nice touch too, especially for people who alternate between competitive gaming, content creation, and general PC use. The overall vibe here feels very streamer-oriented: stylish enough for camera use, practical enough for marathon sessions, and subtle enough not to scream “gaming accessory.” They’re probably the most versatile pair in this lineup besides the Sofia.
Ingrid · $64
A narrow cat-eye frame from the Kista Collection that blends fashion-forward styling with blue-light protection. The Ingrid frames go in a completely different direction stylistically. These are clearly fashion-focused first, with the cat-eye shape giving them a much more elegant and refined look compared to traditional gaming eyewear. What surprised me is how well GUNNAR balances style and practicality here. A lot of fashionable blue-light glasses end up feeling cheap or flimsy, but Ingrid still carries that sturdy engineered-polymer build the company is known for. The slimmer frame also makes them feel less intrusive during long periods of wear. The available colorways help a lot too. Depending on the finish, they can look either sophisticated and professional or a little more playful and trendy. They’re also one of the easier pairs here to wear in public without immediately looking like gaming glasses.
Elin · $49
A slim rectangular Bayonetta-inspired frame designed for comfort, lighter aesthetics, and everyday screen use. Elin feels like one of the most understated options in the entire lineup. The rectangular “Bayonetta-style” frame gives it a sharper, more fashion-oriented appearance while still keeping things fairly minimal. Compared to the Ingrid, Elin has a more modern and slightly edgier personality. The slimmer frame design makes them look lightweight and comfortable enough for all-day wear, especially for office work, browsing, or casual gaming sessions. The only thing I’d say is that they don’t have the same “wow factor” as the Cyberpunk or Clix models. They’re intentionally subtle. For some people that’ll actually be a huge positive, but collectors or gamers wanting a more dramatic style may find them a little plain.
Sofia · $64
A retro-inspired round frame that mixes casual everyday fashion with GUNNAR’s signature eye-protection technology. Sofia might honestly be the most universally wearable pair of the five. The rounded retro design gives them a softer, more relaxed appearance that works extremely well as everyday glasses. The keyhole bridge and rounded frame shape help them stand apart from the sharper gamer-oriented designs GUNNAR usually releases. They almost feel more like lifestyle eyewear than dedicated computer glasses, which is probably why they’d appeal to a broader audience. Like Ingrid, they sit around the $64 range and come in multiple color options with different lens configurations. The versatility is the biggest strength here. They’d look just as natural in a coffee shop or workplace as they would at a gaming desk.
