Com2uS and OGN unveil 2019 eSports plans for massively popular turn-based mobile strategy game
LOS ANGELES – Top Summoners War players from all around the world are bringing their strongest monsters and smartest strategies to battle it out this summer in the third annual Summoners War Championships 2019 (SWC), a high stakes tournament for one of the world’s most popular mobile games that culminates with a main event in Paris.
Publisher and developer Com2uS is aiming to make this the biggest SWC ever by partnering with eSports broadcasting and production giant OGN. Together with OGN, this year’s SWC will be streamed in high quality to eSports and Summoners War fans around the world.
SWC kicks off with online preliminaries on July 13, followed by online group stages on July 20 and 27, then Aug. 3 and 10. Winners from the group stages will then advance to the Americas Cup on Aug. 31 in Los Angeles. Highlighting the best players from North and South America, this year’s Americas Cup will be hosted inside the massive 35,000 square foot OGN Super Arena built specifically for eSports.
Following the Americas Cup, a series of additional regional championships dubbed the Asia-Pacific Cup and the Europe Cup will take place. Winners from each region will move on to represent their part of the world in the SWC 2019 Finals held in Paris later this year with a massive prize pool of $210,000 USD.
In addition to SWC, Com2uS also unveiled its official website for SWC giving fans a small taste of what’s to come for the franchise. Since releasing in 2014, Summoners War has remained atop the App Store and Google Play charts with a wildly popular Player Versus Player (PVP) system centralized around strategy that requires honed skills and strategic thought.
OGN, the pioneers of broadcasting video game related content and eSports, started its journey back in 2000 running high level tournaments with other gaming leagues such as Starcraft, Overwatch, and League of Legends. Since its inception, OGN has produced more than 500 global leagues and events to date and generated over two billion live stream views of eSports programming.
