Farming Simulator 20, by Giants Software and Focus Home Interactive, for the Nintendo Switch is a game where you can be the farmer you always dreamed of, if that was ever your dream. Dreams aside, in this game you are literally a farmer and for some reason it feels like you’re actually farming. The work you do in the game is so tedious and sometimes unrewarding it felt like I just actually went to the farm, was driving a tractor and plowing fields. I could see why some people would like this simulator because like other simulator games, you have to earn money to stay alive in the business and there are some customizations you can make to your tractors and other vehicles; but, that is not going to be enough to keep most people playing this game motivated.
I have never played any of the previous farming simulator games in the series or really anything like Farming Simulator 20, because I didn’t think farming in real life would be fun so I figured farming in video games wouldn’t be fun either, but it was surprisingly worse than I thought. I don’t want to be too harsh on this game for I am at a lack of experience for playing farming games besides Farmville and Stardew Valley of course, and I know there has to be a big community who likes this game and all of the other games in the series. To be honest, I did not like it but there was not much wrong with the physical aspects of the game at all because the graphics were good. I liked most of the controls and how easy it was to drive the tractors but the tutorial was not very good – there was basically no monologue to teach you what to do if you did not know the farming lingo or types of farming equipment, which might make me sound stupid but I didn’t learn anything about types of farming equipment in school and neither did most people. Also, if you hit a button during the instructions screen there was no back button so I would accidentally hit a button and the instructions were lost forever (just kidding), but until you restarted your switch. I also did not like that it’s a very slow game, but once you get the hang of everything it gets a little better.
Overall, I would give Farming Simulator 20 a 5.5/10 because there was not a lot of it that I liked but still it was a well-made game and I could see why some people might like it. I feel as though you will either love this game or hate it, but I don’t think there is any in between. I say this because you either love the slow aspect of waiting around doing nothing while your crops grow and doing busy work in games or you hate it and turn it off and never touch it again. Honestly good for the people who enjoy this game because it is not an easy learning curve and I don’t think I could ever get invested in this game more than I did.

Nintendo Switch Review
I have been interested in video games ever since I was little boy watching my older sister's open there presents on Christmas Day. They ended up getting a Nintendo 64 and the first game that I can remember learning how to play was Pokemon Stadium on Nintendo 64 in 1999. Although at the young age of 3 I was not able to play video games very well, I would watch my sisters play all of the time. This was very influential on me and is the reason why I love video games still today. Some of my favorite games vary from Kirby 64 The Crystal Shards, most of the main series Pokemon games, and Rocket League to Arena of Valor and Call of Duty. I am a student and am currently finishing my degree of environmental science at Chapman University and when I am not playing video games you can find me playing tennis or volleyball. I love sports and I played 4 years of Division 3 college tennis.
