MavsGG brings home one out of two cash match prizes in the 2020 NBA 2K League regular season
DALLAS, TX – In week nine of remote gameplay, Mavs Gaming, the official NBA 2K League affiliate of the Dallas Mavericks, won $2.5K after defeating Grizz Gaming in a two-game sweep. The team had two cash matches at stake, but lost the first one against Blazer5 Gaming in week eight. Currently, MavsGG is 9-4 after falling short to Jazz Gaming last night. The final score was 72-69 (L) in game one, 59-55 (W) in game two and 80-58 (L) in game three. Jazz Gaming defeated Mavs Gaming in a best-of-three series.
“We have two games left and we need to win them both,” Mavs Gaming Head Coach LT Fairley said. “Last night was unfortunate, but be assured that my guys are focused and ready to give their all.”
In the matchup against Jazz Gaming, Mavs Gaming’s Sherm (Justin Sherman) led the team with 30 points just barely trailing Jazz Gaming’s Splashy’s (Kimanni Ingram) total of 34 points in game one. PeteBeBallin (Peter Malin) led the team in both rebounds and assists, but as a team it wasn’t enough to secure the win. Game two started off evenly matched with a lot of back and forth baskets exchanged. Dimez (Artreyo Boyd) pulled out 16 points to help the team stay in the game. Mavs Gaming pushed a little harder and went into the half in the lead, ultimately taking the match and securing game three gameplay. Game three was a tough loss, but proved notable effort from the team. Sherm led with 20 points and 12 assists, while PeteBeBallin secured eight rebounds.
Mavs Gaming will continue its regular season competition of remote gameplay on Thursday, July 16. The team will compete against the Gen.G Tigers of Shanghai at 8 p.m. CST. This game will be livestreamed on the league’s Twitch and YouTube channels.
In Week 11, THE TURN powered by AT&T will take place from Wednesday, July 22 through Saturday, July 25. THE TURN is one of three in-season tournaments (THE TIPOFF, THE TURN and THE TICKET) in which teams compete for banners that link together to form THE BANNER CHAIN powered by AT&T and prize money. More information to come on the tournament.
