The free-to-start Dr. Mario World game has reached its one-year milestone and the mobile game has continued to grow with fun new features.
Thirty years ago, on July 27, 1990, the original Dr. Mario game launched in Japan for the Nintendo Entertainment System and Game Boy systems, delighting players with its puzzle challenges and its captivating capsule-chaining gameplay.
To mark the occasion, Dr. Mario World players can now receive 8-bit Dr. Mario, a playable character with special skills, as a free login bonus. Put to use 8-bit Dr. Mario’s signature magnifying glass to make quick work of challenges with his stage mode skill. Use his versus mode skill to prevent opponents from controlling half-capsules. 8-bit Dr. Mario is available beginning today and can be acquired until Aug. 30 at 10:59 p.m. PT. Best of luck out there deploying Dr. Mario’s impressive talents!
Dr. Mario World now features a lineup of 37 doctors that are ready to support you with their unique range of special skills. Not only are familiar faces such as Dr. Luigi and Dr. Toad available, but players can even call upon a host of Nintendo characters all donning a doctor’s coat. Call upon Dr. Dolphin to pop bubbles, request Dr. Nabbit’s help to increase the score or page the popular Dr. Baby Wario to collect all the coins at a targeted location. New doctors can be obtained by redeeming in-game diamonds and coins and Doc Tokens in the game’s Doc Staffing menu.
The world map has also continued to expand since launch, and now 17 separate worlds are available with a total of 680 satisfying stages filled with absorbing puzzle gameplay. The range of tricky gimmicks that mix up the play styles of stages has steadily increased as well. There’s never been a better time to jump in and start clearing puzzles!
Dr. Mario World is free-to-start and is currently available to download for iOS and Android devices, so you can start the capsule-crashing fun anytime you want. A persistent online connection and a compatible smart device are required to play Dr. Mario World (data charges may apply). If you don’t already have a Nintendo Account, you can create one at https://accounts.nintendo.com/register.
