To them, you were nothing but merchandise; the next hot commodity to make them rich. Only problem is that you didn’t want to be a mindless robot to do their bidding. From the moment you were brought into existence, you knew you were meant for more than just being their slave. You wanted freedom and with the abilities they’ve installed you with, you were going to get it. Developed by Jori Ryan and published by CreatorCrate GamesCreatorCrate is a chaotic 2-D platformer filled with action, explosions, and slightly gory destruction. Imagine if Wall-E had gone bad, didn’t care for the environment, and had an appetite for anarchy, this would be it.

These so-called scientists, aka your creators, are cruel and callous beings. Not only did they deem you as just another product, but they were also hellbent on taking you back; dead or alive. The space station is a massive labyrinth filled with soldiers, traps, and aggressive drones that lack the same conviction that drive you. Dodging, running, and jumping past your obstacles is one way to get through the map. But if you woke up and chose violence, stabbing, hurling, and shooting laser guns works just as well too.

Everything that can be grabbed and moved is matter for the taking. Utilize it, absorb it, or recreate it into new materials. You may be resentful of your human creators, but at least they’ve bestowed upon a most terrible gift for you to take advantage of. It’s not just furniture of lumps of scrap metal that you can consume to harvest as raw materials or energy. Humans are fair game as well and if you manage to knock one out and absorb them, you can even get the blueprints to create your very own humanoid. So go crazy and build multiple guns, a vending machine to throw at a guard, or even skinless, shrieking meat puppets. They made you with no regard if they should, now it’s your turn to deconstruct them because you can.

Not only will you have to escape and avoid annihilation from the many soldiers and motion-detected drones in the station, but the very station itself can become a deadly trap. Vats of acidvanishing platformsand areas of anti-gravity are only some of the many challenges you will have to face. Although the map is large and you are very small, you are still quite a fearsome force to be reckon with. Your tiny, yellow stick arm is perfect for grabbing, swinging, and flinging. Use your surroundings and gathered up matter to your advantage as the biggest hurdle you will need to overcome is if you can be both creative and strategic.

Be stealthy and quickly run through to victory or charge forward and leave a path of pure destruction. You are in control of your own destiny and no human is going to stop you. The space station is only but an elaborate cage and if you need to maim and traumatize a couple dozen of you captors to escape, then so be it. After all, If your creators didn’t want you to rebel, then maybe they shouldn’t have made you an all-consuming 3-D printer with legs.

PROS: Challenging, entertaining, and can be picked up to play at any time.

CONS: Can get frustrating and physics take a bit of time to get used to.

SCORE: 7/10

Video games have always been a huge influence in my life and have definitely shaped me to who I am today . Some of my best memories growing up were the many adventures and stories I was able to experience and become immersed in. If my hands aren't either covered in clay, typing, editing, creating, or helping shoving food in my mouth, they would either be gripped to a controller, tapping away at the screen of my phone, or clicking away on my PC. I am always up for trying something new because why live just one life when you can live many.
