DOOM + DOOM II’s New Re-Release
The venerable first-person shooter games have been improved and bundled into one package. DOOM, a 1993 game developed by id Software, invented the first-person shooter genre and established a benchmark for all subsequent FPS titles. In 1994, the highly anticipated follow-up, DOOM II, was released.
This new definitive version – co-developed with Nightdive Studios – of these combined titles is available now on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox Game Pass, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
The newly enhanced versions feature:
- Deathmatch and cooperative play across platforms for up to 16 players online
- Single-player mod support with an in-game mod browser has been uploaded by the community
- Optimized renderer
- Options for accessibility
- Alongside the original midi soundtracks, there is an optional IDKFA soundtrack by Andrew Hulshult that can be chosen. This includes the previously unreleased IDKFA version of DOOM II.
- enhanced performance on the Xbox Series X|S, PC, and PlayStation 5 with multithreaded rendering that supports up to 4K resolution and 120 frames per second.
- New weaponry and demons in the brand-new episode “Legacy of Rust,” created in cooperation with people from id Software, Nightdive Studios, and MachineGames
Current owners of DOOM (1993) and/or DOOM II on any of the aforementioned platforms are entitled to a complimentary update to the newly combined game, while also maintaining access to their previous versions.
