Introduction/Information about PROJECT TACHYON
PROJECT TACHYON, by developer STUDIO N9 and publisher HIKE Inc., is a game that is planning to release in the first quarter of 2025 for PC via Steam. In the meantime, the developers have released a demo for everyone to try the game out. This game is a run and gun action shooting game with roguelite inspiration where players must travel through time to stop the AI uprising and fight for the future. I enjoy playing action shooters. They can be very fun for me, especially when there are interesting mechanics. When I was playing PROJECT TACHYON, I thought the game was somewhat basic at first, but that quickly changed in about 10 minutes. Afterwards, I was greeted with different kinds of upgrades, customization, and many more enemies trying to kill me constantly. After playing the PROJECT TACHYON demo, I would say that this is a fun run and gun shooter on the right track for development.
Gameplay
The gameplay for PROJECT TACHYON will have players constantly moving. When players jump in, they will start out in a somewhat empty, more calm level to learn how the game plays. For abilities, the player starts out with a double jump and a dash. Something to note with the dash ability is that players are invincible during the dash, so they can use this to get through enemy fire or even enemies, depending on the situation they’re in. Each of them have a small cooldown, so players need to use these properly if they’re in a rough situation. For shooting, the player starts out with a simpler gun. This gun has a standard shot that, as one can guess, shoots standard shots at enemies, and a charge shot, where players charge the gun for a stronger attack. Of course, this isn’t the only weapon players will be limited to in the game. Later on, players will be able to choose from a variety of weapons with a variety of abilities. Abilities that are much stronger than what players will start out with in the beginning. Finally, players will have a melee weapon they can use. This melee attack can be used as an attack or a way to deflect enemy bullets. This becomes extremely useful when bombarded by enemies. If there is any advice I would give players who want to try this game out, it would be this. Use any and every ability at your disposal, because enemies will use everything to kill you.
Final thoughts
Overall, I believe the demo for PROJECT TACHYON is a fun run and gun shooter with a nice mix of rougelite elements. As I mentioned, I enjoy action shooters. They’re fun for me. I did think at first that this game would be pretty simple and basic. However, that opinion changed when I got introduced to the rogue aspects of the game. This made the game much more fun and enjoyable to play. If you are the kind of player looking for an action shooter with fun roguelite elements, then I would recommend playing the PROJECT TACHYON demo.
You can wishlist PROJECT TACHYON as well as play the free demo for PC via Steam. Game is slated to release on February 13, 2025.
