The Rolling Stones and Roblox Announce First-of-its-Kind Collaboration Launch Tomorrow, July 10

Tomorrow, July 10, The Rolling Stones will debut a ground-breaking music and interactive game on Roblox that will bring their storied rock history to life. That same day, the band will release their eagerly awaited new album, Foreign Tongues, through Capitol Records. Additionally, the band has collaborated with more than a dozen members of Roblox’s worldwide creator community to reinvent their famous tongue-and-lips emblem into tangible and virtual goods that fans may bring back from their avatar.

The on-platform game transforms 60 years of music into a single interactive experience for a new generation. It was created by Roblox’s Innovation Studio in collaboration with creative agency Sawhorse and Roblox’s worldwide creator community. In the game, players will come across a variety of The Rolling Stones’ legacy is encased in vibrant crystals that were inspired by the group’s 2023 Hackney Diamonds album. A classic Stones song from that era serves as the game’s soundtrack as players go through decades that correspond to the band’s eras, cooperating to locate and shatter the crystals. By doing this, a giant tongue-and-lips is activated, releasing a surge of rock & roll energy to disrupt each decade and unleash the next. This culminates in an interactive performance that is shared internationally and changes dependent on community engagement.

Players can gain rewards and powers inspired by the band’s lore, bright spirit, and musical adventurousness throughout the game, which is hosted in The Block, Roblox’s constant entertainment venue where artists create interactive experiences alongside the Roblox creator community. The Rolling Stones will then perform an incredible closing show from July 17–19. Every hour, the game will switch to a different era of The Rolling Stones, each of which is highlighted by a massive interactive artwork with dynamic video, lights, and effects. The songs are legendary from the band’s entire existence.

To commemorate the event, Roblox asked well-known community creators to transform The Rolling Stones’ iconic logo into both exclusive cross-platform avatar accessories and a limited-edition, co-branded physical item that can be bought through an in-game Shopify integration that links directly to the band’s online store, bridging the gap between virtual and real world.

Jazzyx3, CASKA’s HAUS, Touzled, Blizzei, DIONESS, morphist4u, WhoseTrade, Empyro, Bad_B0y, raekaro, Spiraxy, Valkenheim, DuckXander, Clockset, and dvdko are among the contributing creators/digital fashion designers from all around the world. Each was picked because of the distinctive aesthetic they each offer to their interpretations of the traditional image.

WhoseTrade, Roblox creator stated, “Collaborating with The Rolling Stones and being trusted to reinterpret something as iconic as the Hot Lips logo was something I never imagined I’d get to do. Getting to work alongside other creators and see our ideas come to life across both the physical and digital worlds is what makes Roblox such a special community of talented creators and opportunity.”

Jessica Meehan, Head of Music Partnerships at Roblox stated, “The Rolling Stones’ legacy has inspired multiple generations of fans, and we’re thrilled to help bring that story to life for a whole new generation on Roblox. From exploring decades of music history to collaborating with creators whose virtual designs become physical merch, this experience brings together music, creativity, and commerce in a way that’s only possible on Roblox.”

The expectation for the Rolling Stones’ 25th studio album is still growing. Thus far, Foreign Tongues has released the singles “In The Stars,” “Rough And Twisted,” “Divine Intervention” with Robert Smith of The Cure, and “Jealous Lover,” the latter of which has an official music video with Anya Taylor-Joy and Charles Melton. On their Speaking In Tongues podcast, the band has been discussing the album’s production.

Foreign Tongues, which has 14 brilliantly colorful tracks, was produced in less than a month at Metropolis Studios in West London. Producer Andrew Watt, who previously oversaw the GRAMMY® Award-winning Hackney Diamonds, collaborated with Jagger, Keith Richards, and Ronnie Wood. The powerful record further solidifies the band’s unmatched heritage by capturing their distinctive sound while venturing into new musical and lyrical realms.

Alongside key collaborators Darryl Jones, Matt Clifford, and Steve Jordan, the album showcases notable performances by Jagger, Richards, and Wood. Charlie Watts’s special appearance, which was recorded during one of his last recording sessions prior to his death in 2021, is also included. An remarkable lineup of guests, including Paul McCartney, Steve Winwood, and Chad Smith of Red Hot Chili Peppers, also contribute.
