Award-Winning Composer Jesper Kyd to Soundtrack Warhammer: End Times Vermintide

Composer Behind the Assassin’s Creed Series and Hitman Series to Compose Music for Fatshark’s Upcoming PC and Console First-Person Shooter and Melee Game

Stockholm, Sweden – February 23, 2015 – Independent developer Fatshark announced that BAFTA award-winning composer Jesper Kyd will provide the soundtrack and music for Warhammer: End Times – Vermintide, a co-operative action first person shooter and melee combat adventure set in the End Times of the iconic Warhammer Fantasy universe. Vermintide is scheduled for release in the second half of 2015, for Windows PC, the Xbox One, all-in-one games and entertainment system from Microsoft via the ID@Xbox self-publishing program, and PlayStation®4 computer entertainment system.

A BAFTA award-winning composer, Jesper Kyd is renowned for creating unique scores with a diverse array of live instrumentation and manipulated sounds. His immersive soundtracks feature a mix of styles ranging from the iconic orchestral/electronic hybrid scores for the Hitman series (British Academy Award for Original Music) and the anthemic choral score for Freedom Fighters, to his four evocative scores for Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed series and the post-apocalyptic / sci-fi themes of the Borderlands Series.

“When we first began the search for a composer for Vermintide, Jesper Kyd was a name that kept coming up again and again – his iconic atmospheric compositions have become a benchmark in what can be achieved in video game music,” said Martin Wahlund, CEO of Fatshark. “We could not be more excited about what he has in store for Vermintide.”

“Working with indie developer Fatshark was one of those crazy challenges that rarely comes along,” said Jesper Kyd, “They wanted a score from the perspective of the Skaven inhabiting the Warhammer universe. Writing this score has been a bit like joining the Skaven clan and giving them a voice – it’s been great, twisted fun.”

In Vermintide, the city of Ubersreik is under siege as players select from a band of five heroes with different play-styles and abilities, all equipped with unique gear and personalities.

Working together cooperatively, players must use their individual attributes to survive an apocalyptic invasion from hordes of relentless, power hungry Skaven, across a range of environments stretching from the top of the Magnus Tower to the bowels of the Under Empire.

Vermintide is scheduled for release in the second half of 2015, for Windows PC, the Xbox One, all-in-one games and entertainment system from Microsoft via the ID@Xbox self-publishing program, and PlayStation®4 computer entertainment system.
