GUNNAR Video Game Themed Glasses Special Look by Nick Navarro
Video game merchandise has come a long way from simple t-shirts and collectible figures. Today, companies are finding new ways to blend gaming culture with everyday accessories, giving fans opportunities to showcase their favorite franchises long after they’ve stepped away from the screen. GUNNAR, a company best known for its gaming and computer eyewear, recently sent over six pairs of officially licensed sunglasses inspired by some of gaming’s biggest properties, including Fallout, The Witcher, and Borderlands 4. Rather than simply slapping a logo on a standard frame, each pair incorporates design elements that reflect the personality and aesthetic of its respective franchise. After spending time looking over each model, I wanted to highlight what makes them unique, discuss their styling, available options, pricing, and overall appeal for both gamers and sunglasses enthusiasts alike. Whether you’re wandering the wasteland, hunting monsters across the Continent, or causing mayhem on Pandora, there’s a good chance one of these pairs will catch your eye.

Fallout Vault 33 Sunglasses – $99
The Vault 33 sunglasses take a very different approach, leaning into Fallout’s retro-futuristic aesthetic instead of military inspiration (as you’ll see in the next one). Featuring a square frame design with gunmetal and olive accents, they look like something that could have been pulled directly from a pre-war Vault-Tec advertisement. The combination of stainless steel, nylon materials, and integrated side shields gives them a unique appearance that feels both vintage and futuristic. The square shape makes them a little more versatile for different face shapes, and the olive detailing helps them stand apart from the sea of black sunglasses found on most store shelves. They’re subtle enough for everyday use while still delivering plenty of Fallout personality.

Fallout Brotherhood of Steel Sunglasses – $99
The Brotherhood of Steel sunglasses immediately stand out as one of the most aggressive and masculine designs in GUNNAR’s current lineup. Inspired by the iconic military faction from Amazon’s Fallout series, these frames embrace a rugged aviator aesthetic with a weathered gunmetal finish that mirrors the look of Brotherhood power armor. Small details such as the Brotherhood emblem and the “Ad Victoriam” inscription help reinforce the connection to the franchise without making the sunglasses feel overly branded. The rounded aviator shape is timeless enough to work as an everyday pair of sunglasses, while the Fallout-inspired details give longtime fans something special to appreciate. Of all the Fallout-themed sunglasses in this collection, these may have the broadest appeal. Even someone unfamiliar with the franchise could easily wear them as a stylish pair of outdoor shades, while Fallout fans will appreciate how faithfully they capture the Brotherhood’s militaristic identity.

Fallout Lucky 38 Sunglasses – $99
If the Brotherhood of Steel sunglasses represent strength and the Vault 33 sunglasses represent survival, the Lucky 38 sunglasses are all about style. Inspired by the legendary casino from Fallout: New Vegas and the Amazon series, these frames embrace a retro-Vegas look with round lenses, silver accents, and removable leather side shields that immediately set them apart from everything else in the lineup. The removable side shields add a unique wasteland-inspired flair while allowing users to customize the overall look. Flexible spring hinges and premium materials further reinforce the feeling that these were designed as a collector’s piece rather than a simple novelty item. As someone who has spent countless hours wandering the Mojave, this pair may be my favorite of the Fallout collection. The design captures the old-world glamour and mystery of New Vegas while still functioning as a practical pair of sunglasses. They’re bold, stylish, and unmistakably Fallout.

The Witcher: White Wolf Sunglasses – $99
The White Wolf sunglasses may be the most sophisticated pair in this entire collection. Inspired by Geralt of Rivia, these frames avoid flashy logos and oversized branding in favor of a refined design that reflects the character’s stoic personality. The steel and umber color combination creates a premium appearance that feels mature and elegant. The frame design strikes a nice balance between modern and classic styling, making them easy to wear whether you’re heading outdoors, traveling, or simply spending a day in the sun. What stands out most is how understated they are. Rather than screaming “licensed merchandise,” they feel like a quality pair of designer sunglasses that happen to be inspired by one of gaming’s most beloved characters. Fans of The Witcher will appreciate the references, but even non-fans could easily wear these as an everyday fashion accessory.

Borderlands 4: Ripper Sunglasses – $74
Borderlands 4, Ripper Sunglasses
The Ripper sunglasses embody everything people associate with Borderlands: attitude, chaos, and personality. The frame design embraces the franchise’s over-the-top style while maintaining enough practicality to function as everyday eyewear. Compared to some of the more restrained sunglasses in this collection, Ripper feels unapologetically loud. The design language appears aimed directly at Borderlands fans who want their accessories to stand out. Sharp lines, bold accents, and a more aggressive silhouette help create a look that feels perfectly at home on Pandora. While some sunglasses attempt to hide their gaming inspiration, Ripper proudly wears it on its sleeve. For fans looking for a statement piece, this may be one of the strongest options available. It’s fashionable in a distinctly Borderlands way and feels designed for people who want something more adventurous than traditional sunglasses.

Borderlands 4: Moxxi Sunglasses – $99
If Ripper represents Borderlands’ chaotic side, Moxxi represents its stylish side. Inspired by the franchise’s iconic entrepreneur and entertainer, these sunglasses lean into a more fashionable and glamorous aesthetic. The frame shape is noticeably more refined and playful, helping distinguish it from the more rugged designs found elsewhere in the collection. The Moxxi sunglasses feel like they were created with versatility in mind. While they still contain the colorful personality associated with Borderlands, they also work surprisingly well as lifestyle sunglasses. The overall presentation feels less aggressive than Ripper and more focused on style and self-expression. Out of the two Borderlands models, Moxxi is probably the easier pair to wear daily. It retains the franchise’s signature flair without becoming overwhelming, resulting in a pair of sunglasses that should appeal to both dedicated Borderlands fans and people simply looking for a fashionable new accessory.
GUNNAR’s latest collection demonstrates how licensed eyewear has evolved beyond simple promotional merchandise. Each pair feels thoughtfully designed around its respective franchise, with visual elements that reflect the source material while remaining practical enough for everyday use. At $99 each (well $74 for the Ripper sunglasses), these sunglasses certainly fall into premium territory, but they’re also clearly targeting collectors and fans who want something more distinctive than a generic pair of shades.
