This is a review for the PC version of Oceanhorn: Monster of Uncharted Seas by Finnish developer Cornfox & Brothers.
Oceanhorn: Monster of Uncharted Seas combines captivating storytelling, breathtaking 3D visuals and exciting gameplay into one epic action-adventure experience. In the game you explore the islands of Uncharted Seas, a world filled with many dangers, puzzles and secrets. The game draws its influence heavily from The Legend of Zelda.
Graphics
Oceanhorn: Monster of Uncharted graphics are colorful and seem to pop off the screen. The graphics appear clear and without any blur. For this reason, we gave the Graphics a 5 / 5.
Sound
Oceanhorn: Monster of Uncharted features a great soundtrack that corresponds directly to the action that is taking place within the game. The music is composed by Nobuo Uematsu, Kenji Ito, and Finnish composer, Kalle Ylitallo. We gave the Sound 5 / 5.
Gameplay
Oceanhorn: Monster of Uncharted is fun-filled with tons of exploration and continuous discovery. Your hero wields a sword and a shield, as well as other nifty gadgets that he finds and earns along the way. You will have to solve fun and simple puzzles along the way, but none of which we’ve found to be so challenging that we were stuck at any level. The gameplay is almost a clone of The Legend of Zelda, but not quite as perfect. However, the game holds its own, so expect hours of fun. We gave the gameplay a 4.5 / 5.
Controls
Oceanhorn: Monster of Uncharted are simple and intuitive. No did not run into any glitches. For this reason, we gave the controls a 5 / 5.
Overall
Overall, Oceanhorn: Monster of Uncharted is a super fun game, filled with discovery, exploration and battle. We don’t care that it draws endless similarities from Zelda, because the game is well done and we had a ton of fun playing it. We recommend a BUY.
4.5/ 5
