Developer Behold Studios has launched the release trailer for tactical RPG CHROMA SQUAD inspired by Saban’s Power Rangers.
The game was nominated for the SXSW Gamers’ Voice prize as one of the best indie games of the year. Gamers will have a chance to play Chroma Squad at the SXSW interactive expo held at the Austin Convention Center on March 12-15.
In Chroma Squad, players will manage a sentai television studio, casting actors, purchasing equipment and crafting weapons and giant mechas out of cardboard and glue to create their own sentai TV show. Once the cameras are rolling, players will control their cast of five colored-jumpsuit-clad warriors in dramatic, turn-based battles. The developers behind the game grew up watching sentai series like Flashman and Changeman, as well as Saban’s Power Rangers, which had a particularly huge influence on the creation of Chroma Squad.
You’re invited to experience this highly anticipated tactical RPG about five stunt actors who decide to quit their jobs and start their own Power Rangers-inspired TV show! The video features an original theme song for Chroma Squad performed by Koyama Shuu, from the japanese band SCOOBIE DO.
The small indie game development studio from Brazil has been hard at work creating new content and making some improvements to the game in Closed Beta over the last few months, with invaluable help from their Kickstarter backers.
Be sure to try out the new crafting features, and Chroma Squad’s unique style of tactical combat featuring “teamwork” attacks.
Chroma Squad releases for PC/Mac/Linux through Steam on April 30.
