Developer Rockfish, the new indie studio from the founders of Fishlabs, has announced their first indie production, EVERSPACE, a rogue-like space shooter for PC and something of a heritage to GOF2.
EVERSPACE is a rogue-like 3D space shooter with non-linear story-telling based on Unreal Engine 4. It is brought to you by the creators of the critically acclaimed Galaxy on Fire series with millions of players and critical acclaim from all around the globe (Metacritics score: 90 for Galaxy on Fire 2).
Being an EVERSPACE pilot, you will travel and explore, hunt for resources and uncover hidden secrets as well as fight and upgrade your ship and character.
As the game will not be ultra hardcore when it comes to character death, you can embrace dying on a new level. Every time you die you are going to be rewarded and can pick better gear for your next run. And yes, all upgrades and modifications will be visible on your shiny ship in full detail.
“It’s great to see the ROCKFISH guys parlay their expertise coming from tremendous success in mobile and now venturing into the PC market armed with Unreal Engine 4. EVERSPACE is gorgeous and it looks like a ton of fun, and we can’t wait to play it,” said Epic Games European Territory Manager, Mike Gamble.
“Our team is absolutely thrilled with the technical possibilities of the Unreal Engine 4. The technology and the workflow allows us to implement fantastic space scenes in a few days. Earlier we would have needed weeks or months,” says Michael Schade, CEO and founder of ROCKFISH Games.
“Thanks to the visual effects and the quality of the shader and light sources the Unreal Engine 4 gives us a special look that creates a unique atmosphere especially fitting for the space shooter genre. Above all, the dynamic lighting system is an enormous advantage for our rogue-like concept, because we are able to generate all the levels on the fly in cinematic quality. Overall, we made a deliberate choice to avoid hyperrealism and are relying on a romantic, cinematic and at the same time vibrant look for EVERSPACE.”
