LAS VEGAS, Jan. 6, 2016 /PRNewswire/ — Moff, the maker of the award-winning Moff Band, the world’s first smart wearable for kids, and BANDAI NAMCO Entertainment Inc. (BNE), a leader in game publishing and entertainment, announce that they are previewing PAC-MAN Powered by Moff, a gamified fitness app using the Moff Gamified Fitness Platform, to be launched in the U.S. this spring. The preview of this app is being showcased at the Moff booth (#73849, Tech West, Sands Expo) at the 2016 International CES in Las Vegas from today, January 6 to 9.
This is Moff and BANDAI NAMCO Entertainment’s first collaboration following BNE’s investment in Moff in September 2015. The PAC-MAN Powered by Moff preview showcases the Moff Gamified Fitness Platform, a business-to-business solution that brings advanced wearable technology to everyday fitness. PAC-MAN Powered by Moff combines Moff’s cloud-based wearable technology that recognizes and analyzes users’ real-time motion behaviors with BNE’s game-developing expertise, making it a Moff Band-compatible app for families to enjoy fitness activities.
“Our goal is for Moff to bring an expertise in gamified fitness technology in partnership with trusted entertainment industry leaders and together create innovative relationships between kids and wearable technology,” said Aki Takahagi, Co-founder and CEO, Moff. “With the launch of PAC-MAN Powered by Moff in partnership with BANDAI NAMCO Entertainment, we are providing kids and families a new user experience to enjoy a classic game while staying active. We want to keep kids moving!”
PAC-MAN Powered by Moff is classic in its design, yet revolutionary in its gameplay. Some of the features include the user directing PAC-MAN up, down, left, and right with their intuitive arm movements to actively guide PAC-MAN through the maze, while wearing the Moff Band—connected via Bluetooth to a smart device. The finished product will have the player break out in a sweat while directing PAC-MAN away from the menacing ghosts and toward the power pellets.
The Moff Band, recipient of the 2016 KAPi Award for ‘Best Digital/Physical Bridge’ product, was an overnight Kickstarter smart toy sensation, with its initial funding goal met within just 48 hours. This slap-on smart bracelet, which was also awarded Popular Mechanic’s 2015 Toy Award, enables kids to play sounds and games through movement. In November 2015, Moff announced a partnership with PBS KIDS, and together, they released the “PBS KIDS Party App” with four educational games that encourage kids to learn through active play.
Moff Bands are available on Amazon for $54.99. The “PBS Kids Party App” and the Moff original app are available for free in the Google Play, Amazon and Apple app stores. Both apps, when paired with the Moff Band, encourage kids to move and spark their creativity!
