Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare Review for PS4

Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare Review for PS4

From World war to Space war, the Call of Duty franchise has come a long way. Call of Duty series changed the way the FPS/Shooter games worked earlier, bringing in a great military story and gameplay. My review of Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare is somewhere a bitter sweet experience, meaning it was fun even though there were some ups and downs.

Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare is set up in a future where the world is facing resource deficit and humans have started moving out to different planets using advanced technology and jump ships, to gather more resources. Infinity Ward has done a great job in bringing the Call of Duty series this far. The good thing is if you go for a legacy edition you can get to play one of the most successful game in the series, i.e. Modern Warfare Remastered for the new generation consoles.

Now Infinite Warfare seems to be set into a future where people have reached to different planets in the solar system, and as we all know with greed comes villain, Kit Harrington, primarily known as Jon Snow, is the primary antagonist in the game. He is the leader of Settlement Defense Front (SDF), which is made of other insurgents who want to take control over the solar system, in other words they are future terrorists.

Story basically revolves around Solar Associated Treaty Organization (SATO), which fights against SDF and tries to protect the piece. The story does start with a bit ambiguously and we don’t have any idea what we are doing with our player. But after the first mission it starts getting clear a bit as SDF attacks and we become a captain of the ship, which basically feels like Star Trek. The game does have a Jackal, Jet Fighter like fighter aircrafts, in space, and are pretty much fun to run around with. After the first couple of missions they are pretty much fun, as you get to play through different play style from all-out war to stealth gameplay. But the game does end with an abrupt unusual ending.

Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare basically gives you a lot of different play styles, and has a variety of weapons to play with, though you might have seen some of the weapons earlier, most of them are new weapons, and are good at handling and fun to play with. Some of the coolest features are controlling the enemy robots and make them self-explode, anti-gravity grenade, shock grenades and seeker grenade.

And other than regular run-around the platform, there are times when you must play in space in zero gravity, where you keep rotating after a while of movements and need to re-align back to your original position which seemed to me a bit annoying to play with. Multiplayer and Co-Op games are pretty much fun as usual and this game also has Zombie mode available.

As the end notes, I would like to conclude with a couple of things. Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare is fun to play, but it seems going off track and felt not so much required, the way the story ended and no connection to any previous games, made me feel a bit awkward to play. No doubt there were fun times in the game, but a lot of down times as well. The bright side is Legacy Edition provides Modern Warfare Remastered which looks so beautiful as compared to the previous version of the game. And, the Jackal Strikes in the missions were interesting. I would like to give this game a solid 8 out of 10.
