Actor Mackenyu, best known for his portrayal of Roronoa Zoro in Netflix’s live-action adaptation of “One Piece,” as well as his roles in “Knight of the Zodiac” and “Dragons of Wonderhatch,” will make his video game debut today by lending his voice and likeness to the eagerly awaited Assassin’s Creed Shadows video game in March, according to a statement released by Ubisoft.
Gennojo, played by Mackenyu, is a likable man who meets up with Naoe and Yasuke as they are pursuing an important target. He can be recruited by players in the Shinobi League to help them against the corrupt forces that are rife throughout the country. Both the Japanese and English voiceovers for this character will be provided by Mackenyu.

Mackenyu stated, “I have fond memories of the franchise. I was in middle school when Assassin’s Creed first came out, and I remember my friends and I would gather at a friend’s house and take turns playing the game . When I heard that the new Assassin’s Creed game would be set in Japan, I knew that I needed to be part of this project.”
Jonathan Dumont, Creative Director at Ubisoft Quebec, the lead development studio for Assassin’s Creed Shadows said, “Mackenyu’s performance added something really special to our game,” said . “His unique energy and charisma breathe life into Gennojo, and we’re eager for players to meet the character and explore his story.”
Assassin’s Creed Shadows, which will be available globally on March 20, takes place in medieval Japan during the pivotal moments of the nation’s unification, where the forces of mercy and retribution clash. With Yasuke, the formidable African samurai, and Naoe, an accomplished Iga shinobi, the game presents a unique dual protagonist concept. Because the storylines of these people blend together in a world where morality is frequently ambiguous, they provide unique gaming experiences.
