Greetings gamers, Greg here, from Gaming Cypher, to gab about some big things happening in wrestling games. If you grew up with games you’ve probably played a few fight games some more real than others. If you prefer more realistic games than to ones where you shoot fireballs out of your hands and green hairy monsters a sports game based on a real league is probably more your speed. This brings me to AEW: Fight Forever from Yukes which like many other wrestling games brings a recognizable lineup of fighters to the screen. AEW (All Elite Wrestling) has brought its electrifying action (You can shock people) to the gaming world with the release of AEW: Fight Forever. Developed in collaboration with wrestling enthusiasts, this game aims to deliver a comprehensive and engaging experience for fans of the sport.
The gameplay in AEW: Fight Forever captures the essence of professional wrestling, but does play a little like a turn-based fighting game. The controls are fine for what it is and allows players to seamlessly transition between strikes, grapples, and high-flying maneuvers. The game’s somewhat fluid animations and somewhat button-mashing for victory create a satisfying in-ring experience.
The impressive roster of AEW wrestlers is sure to leave fans delighted. Each wrestler is faithfully recreated, complete with their signature moves and entrance styles. This attention to detail enhances the authenticity of the game and enables players to step into the shoes of their favorite AEW stars.
AEW: Fight Forever offers a variety of game modes to cater to different player preferences. Exhibition matches, multiplayer modes, deathmatch, mini-games, online play, and my favorite extreme cage match which features an electrified and exploding ring.
The graphics in AEW: Fight Forever creates a satisfying replication of the atmosphere of AEW events. The character models are somewhat detailed, showcasing representations of the wrestlers’ appearances as closely as they can with their semi-lower res graphics. The arenas and crowd animations contribute to capturing the energy and excitement of a live wrestling show. Also, this is where you can pull weapons from either the crowd or under the ring which is pretty fun, and can get bloody in the ring pretty quickly with a barbwire-wrapped baseball bat.
However, there are occasional glitches and clipping issues that can momentarily disrupt gameplay. While these technical hiccups are not prevalent, their occurrence can be a minor distraction. There can also be a lag in key inputs especially if you try to spam attacks. I found the most effective way to fight was to just keep hitting the opponent, but would get lag if my combo was not connecting with the enemy due to their get-up from the mat animation sequence.
AEW: Fight Forever successfully captures the essence of All Elite Wrestling and delivers an engaging gaming experience for wrestling fans. The gameplay mechanics are fairly fluid and responsive if not mashed, allowing players to execute high-impact moves and strategies with ease. The comprehensive roster and attention to detail in character representation enhance the authenticity of the game and will leave fans with some fun mindless smackdown.
The variety of game modes, including the story mode, building your own characters, and multiplayer options, offer replayability and cater to diverse player preferences. The online community component further strengthens the game’s appeal, fostering a sense of camaraderie among fans.
Although minor technical glitches may momentarily disrupt immersion, the overall presentation is visually appealing, bringing the excitement of AEW events to life.
In summary, AEW: Fight Forever is a commendable wrestling game that successfully translates the thrill and intensity of All Elite Wrestling into an interactive experience. Wrestling fans, both casual and hardcore, will find enjoyment in this title, making it a worthy addition to their gaming library.
