Aliens: Fireteam Elite is Co-op third person survival shooter game, developed and published by Cold Iron Studios. Aliens: Fireteam Elite, as its name suggests, is set in iconic Alien universe.
In the year 2202, a mysterious distress call reroutes the Marine Assault Unit to LV-895 in the outer colonies, where deadly Xenomorph legions, hidden corporate secrets and ancient alien ruins awaits players.
The game starts with character creation and then introduces you the NPCs on the ship. There are a bunch of modes to play Aliens: Fireteam Elite. Players have a few different settings to choose from before deployment, that include the class they want to play and the weapons and associated modifications for each weapon type. Certain classes can only use certain types of weapons. The players can also get some cosmetic updates from the in-game currency earned while completing the mission.
After deployment, the player will be spawned on a map and will have to go through different sets of objectives and waves of Aliens and can utilize different traps and abilities to survive those waves/swarm of bugs. There are certain additional Challenge cards that can be used during deployment phase that can give the game some different feels and additional rewards for completing the missions. Also, almost all of the maps have hidden caches to be discovered for additional rewards. All the missions, after completion, can be replayed after players spawn back on the ship.
The team deployment can be either a co-op multiplayer with friends or with AI if no one is available. AI feels like dead corpses as they literally are just robots. Aliens: Fireteam Elite is recommended best to play in an online multiplayer setting with actual players and not AI bots.
There are different categories of Aliens that can give players some challenge, but after a bit, it feels very repetitive and bland. Though players can try out different classes to feel out different gameplay styles, which is best used in multiplayer settings when you play with other players. Each class and the weapon you use will receive experience points after completing a mission. And provide additional upgrades to be applied to the specific class.
Overall, as I mentioned, Aliens: Fireteam Elite is very repetitive as each swarm contains same base aliens plus some explosive type of aliens, after a while it does seem like just doing for completion. But if playing with friends, using challenge cards, and trying out different classes is definitely that players will enjoy. I would rate this 7.5 stars out of 10.
