Ubisoft is back with Desmond Mile’s final story, with a Remastered version on Switch. I always wondered how the high end graphical open world game would work on Nintendo Switch, and I was pleasantly surprised.
Assassin’s Creed III Remastered is extremely polished and optimized for Switch, as it runs smoothly except in a few places such as crowded areas as well as places where there are a lot of objects around. The controls feel extremely comfortable on the Switch, and easy to use. Graphically the game does look really beautiful for the Switch’s screen, and Ubisoft definitely did a great job with it.
It was a great experience playing through the story of Desmond again. The game brought you into a totally different culture in America. Reliving the game was a like walking down the memory lane. One thing I do miss, however, is that if anyone has played the new Assassin’s Creed starting from Origins, the running and climbing controls have changed. The player would not just climb the obstacle or run on top of the tree like the previous Assassin’s Creed – this was not implemented in the remastered version. At some points it feels really annoying that Desmond just climbs buildings without our consent.
One good thing about the Remastered version is that it comes with all the DLC’s and Assassin’s Creed Liberation as well. If anyone has not played Assassin’s Creed III, it is a great way to enter into the world of Assassin’s with this one, also on a handheld console, that you can just carry around in your pocket.
Overall, the Switch version of Assassin’s Creed III Remastered is a great way to introduce Assassin’s Creed franchise into the Handheld console, with a hope of introduction of other Assassin’s games as well. Also the controls feel extremely comfortable except when it comes to aiming the guns. I never liked the joysticks of the Switch anyways. I would give Assassin’s Creed III Remastered 8 stars.
