Japan’s premier celebration of independent game development returns to Kyoto, in July 2015; announces an all-star line-up of Japanese and Western developers participating in the gaming festival.
Japan’s leading independent game development festival, BitSummit, is proud to announce an exciting and eclectic line-up of speakers and panelist set to appear at this year’s show.
Among this year’s guests are some of Japan’s most lauded and successful developers. Fresh off successful KickStarter campaigns, Keiji Inafune (Mighty No. 9), Koji Igarashi (Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night) and Takuya Aizu (Inti Creates Co. Ltd) will hold a panel session to discuss the pros and cons of crowdsourcing development. Shuhei Yoshida, also known as “Yosp” to his legions of Twitter followers, will give insights into Sony’s role working with indie developers. And some of Japan’s most eccentric developers, Tetsuya Mizuguchi (Rez, Lumines), Kazutoshi Iida (Doshin the Giant), Atsushi Inaba (Star Fox Zero) and SWERY (D4, Deadly Premonition) will all grace the stage at BitSummit.
In addition to gaming luminaries from Japan, BitSummit will also feature talks by indies both local and from around the world. Kyoto denizens Baiyon (PixelJunk Eden) and Jake Kazdal (Galak-Z) will make appearances, as well as international indie developers Dan Gray (Monument Valley) and Jakub Dvorsky (Samorost3).
All of the festivities will be hosted by returning BitSummit Super MC, Ben Judd (Digital Development Management). Full profiles of all speakers are available via the BitSummit site here.
Finally, we’re happy to announce the full timetable and the incredible “in the round” layout for this year. You can find it on the BitSummit site here and embedded in this email.
BitSummit will be held in Miyako Messe, which is located in the historic Heian Jingu area in the heart of scenic Kyoto. Last year’s event brought over 100 local developers, 5000 attendees and global support from sponsors like Unity, Sony Computer Entertainment Japan, and Microsoft Japan, to name a few. This year’s event will continue the BitSummit tradition by bringing in the best and brightest Japanese development teams, musical acts, the BitSummit awards ceremony, developer-focused networking events and exciting new surprises for fans!
