CIRCUIT SUPERSTARS Review for Xbox One

Circuit Superstars is a top down strategy racing game by SQUARE ENIX Ltd., and Original Fire Games. This cartoon-like game allows players to visit different environments and racetracks, as they race against AI, their friends, or time. This game features new game mechanics such as pit stops. Circuit Superstars allows players to live out their car racing dreams in a new and exciting way.

As mentioned previously, Circuit Superstars allows players to play online with their friends, against bots, and also in time trials. Each of these separate game modes are unique in their own way, and all very entertaining. I personally found online to be the most challenging. When going against real players, there can be a wide variety of skills and lends. I went up against some players that were very good at the game, and they won by a landslide. There also were some internet connection errors, which ended up changing the outcome for certain racers. However, I did find the online game mode to be the most entertaining and challenging.

The next gamemode I played was against AI. I felt like this gamemode was the best for beginners, due to the fact that you could change the difficulty of the bots that best suited you. I feel like this gamemode is a great way to warm up, learn the controls, or kill some time. Speaking of time, the last gamemode was the time trials. These game modes were pretty simple. Players had to race against the clock to try and beat the racing course in the best possible time.

I also enjoyed the Top Gear Time Attack DLC as it gave me the opportunity to play the world-famous test track from Top Gear! In this DLC, while wearing a special Stig costume, you get to play against a wide range of real-life drivers from the series as well as eSports Stars.

Another thing I wanted to bring up was the pit stop mechanic. This mechanic lets players decide on their pit stop strategy. Tire deterioration, fuel consumption, and damage were all taken into effect. Players had to choose when to go into the pits, and how long they would stay in them. I thought this game mechanic was very fascinating, especially since it had only been used in certain other racing games.

Overall, I found Circuit Superstars to be a very fun game. The animated and bright graphics give the game a fresh feeling. Especially due to the small amount of other racing games out right now, this was a great and refreshing game to play. I really enjoyed the amount of content and challenges in the game, and would definitely recommend it to anyone that enjoys racing type games. I would give this game a solid eight out of ten.
