Precision and patience are vital for Kool2Play’s latest Nintendo Switch game, Clock Simulator, where players attempt to time their movements with each passing second as they move around vibrantly designed clocks. Players can explore unique levels, battle against other players -exclusively on the Nintendo Switch platform-, and work to beat their top score as they fight against time. So, the question stands, are you good with time?
Clock Simulator is an intriguing game and from the beginning I cannot deny I was hooked on the idea of being a clock! Out of every simulation game I have played in my life, this is by far one of the most outlandish. The creativity which Kool2Play put into designing this retro game will surely be appreciated by every player who chooses to purchase it. I want to warn players that Clock Simulator is not a game for the anxious-minded or anxiety-driven personalities as it will certainly overwhelm players by its repetitive nature. The obvious necessity to time things perfectly may leave players frustrated so upon purchase players should prepare themselves for some anger and disappointment; however, for those who enjoy a bit of a challenge, this demanding nature may be intriguing. Additionally, it is certainly not a game that can be played for long durations. Between its repetition -both in level design and objective- players may easily get bored.
I want to note the inclusion of multiplayer which is unique to the Nintendo Switch console. This makes Clock Simulator a perfect party game when friends come over, but I caution that it may stir up some fierce competition amongst friends, so buyer beware! Warn your friends before you play -you don’t want to lose any if you’ve honed your skills and are already a pro at time management!
Kool2Play attempts to make the controls of Clock Simulator minimal, however, they significantly miss the mark on convenience. This is unfortunate when creating what seems to be such a simple game. On certain levels such as “Dungeons and Aliens” controls are disastrous. While they seem direct, these controls are inconsistent with the objective. Players must adapt themselves to absurd patterns that the game has made rather than what the screen displays. While this adds a challenge to the game it is somewhat disappointing due to its inconsistency. I would have preferred further explanation from Kool2Play rather than the minimalism they attempted to go for. I understand their attempt for minimalism across the board, however, the goal is to entice players not deter them. If they publish a second version perhaps include a few more details.
An indie game which races against time is a unique idea, however, the execution falls somewhat flat. While the graphics are upbeat and vibrant, Kool2Play’s control choices are disappointing. Instead of providing enough explanation for their players, they attempt to make Clock Simulator far too minimalistic than necessary and it somewhat deters players from playing certain levels. However, if you’re up for a challenge take some deep breaths and try your best! But… maybe you should watch the clock on your wall a few times first!
Score: 6/10

Nintendo Switch Review
My name is Haylee, but everyone calls me "Haylz". Gaming has been a passion of mine since my grandma bought me The Sims for PC and my love for gaming flourished from there. Currently, I'm a Senior studying English at Texas A&M University- Corpus Christi and spend most of my time gaming and leading my school through collegiate competitions as President of the eSports club! Despite being a dedicated vegetarian, my favorite games tend to be First Person Shooters and I'm naturally drawn to blood and gore! Chances are, if you can kill in it, I'll play it... I just won't eat it (unless it's a Fallout perk)!
