Samurai Shodown for Xbox One is an epic online fighting game from SNK that might soon become your next addiction. Whether you’re an online gamer or more of a CPU fighter, SNK has crafted AI that adapt to your playstyle to ensure this isn’t just another walk in the park. Offering a total of 16 unique characters and a variety of different play modes, players are able to hone their skills and find which character best suits their fighting style then take that online and see how they stack up against players all over the world! With CPU’s that adapt to your playstyle and brilliant relentless characters that counter your every move, this game is no walk in the park.
The high-definition graphics in Samurai Shodown give a modern twist on classic arcade-style gaming. Of course a few of the characters are cliche for any samurai fighting game, SNK has done a brilliant job crafting such an aesthetically-pleasing game. However, I can’t help but feel like they made this game too arcade-like. Whether it was the arcade realism at work or perhaps an overall lack of fluidity in the controls, I couldn’t help but long for a joystick while playing instead of my Xbox One controller. In other words: my controller simply felt wrong. The slow-pace and concision sure made the game feel as if I should have been playing it on an arcade machine (which is a major bonus!) but playing it on an Xbox One controller felt awkward which was disappointing for a game so graphic-intensive. However, I want to note this clunkiness is not enough to dismiss Samurai Shodown altogether. It in no way impacts gameplay – it is simply a disappointment.
Although playing against ghosts is difficult, I highly suggest players venture to online mode when ready. Whether you’re competing in casual or ranked mode, Samurai Shodown’s online versus mode it’s a fun way to test your gaming abilities or see how you stack up against other players from all around the globe! But before you hop online you might want to play against a few ghosts first. But, the skill of these ghosts shouldn’t be taken lightly. SNK hasn’t created an intelligent AI, they’ve created something quite genius. I am highly impressed and can guarantee these ghosts will not be a walk in the park. So, for those who don’t like an online game but are looking for real competition you will not be disappointed. And for those whose expectations are continuously let down by games which never prepare you for real online battle, SNK has finally created a worthy CPU.
A game that combines intense, arcade-style fighting with high-definition graphics is one worth checking out in its own but the competitive online opportunities are enough to make any gamer stick around long enough to become obsessed! For those looking for an easy game to prove they’re the best samurai out there, I warn Samurai Shodown might not be the game for you. But for those looking for a challenge that will help hone your fighting skills, go check SNK’s new Xbox One fighting game out! It’s fun, thrilling, and the perfect antidote to cure your competitive craving!

Xbox One Review
My name is Haylee, but everyone calls me "Haylz". Gaming has been a passion of mine since my grandma bought me The Sims for PC and my love for gaming flourished from there. Currently, I'm a Senior studying English at Texas A&M University- Corpus Christi and spend most of my time gaming and leading my school through collegiate competitions as President of the eSports club! Despite being a dedicated vegetarian, my favorite games tend to be First Person Shooters and I'm naturally drawn to blood and gore! Chances are, if you can kill in it, I'll play it... I just won't eat it (unless it's a Fallout perk)!
