Greetings Gamers, Greg from Gaming Cypher here to talk about Cyberpunk 2077 for the PlayStation 5, one of the most anticipated games that fell flat on its face at the start of the race. This is a game so anticipated that gamers bought into the dream and knew that it was going to be a game for the ages. Unfortunately, due to mass problems at launch, it had an extremely rocky release even getting pulled from some online stores. The company is even facing several lawsuits due to the poor release. BUT the devs have now patched many of the problems that plagued the game at its original release. When I played it at release originally, it had some soul crushing problems including being shot by enemies through walls and my car randomly getting stuck in a parking lot, or even full crashes of the game.
A lot has changed since then and I have been able to play the game without much problem these days. When I started over, I created a new character so I could enjoy having a different origin story, which I found very interesting how that changed and doesn’t change the beginning of the game. I can tell you that this game is very enjoyable now that it can be played without problems. This is a game still in the works and you get the chance to help them play test it.
All that being said, this is still a hugely ambitious game and one I really want to succeed. This is a game that caught the attention of almost every gamer I knew and had lines around the convention center at E3. I still believe that, at some point, it’s going to be a much more improved game in the future because it needs to be. With masterful games under its belt, like the Witcher games, I still have hope it will get there. I think this is now a game that deserves a chance. It’s a very inventive world and has some great story points to it. But it’s not perfect yet and I wish they ultimately delayed the original launch until they were to this point.
What’s the take away here? If you wanted to wait until it’s perfect, it’s not there yet, but if you just wanted to wait until it was playable without the game crashing every few hours then you can give it a shot. I was not ever super bothered by the glitches I encountered the second time around, but still noticed them from time to time. But the glitches we are seeing now I find to be the type of thing that happens all the time in AAA titles and can often be overlooked. If I was rating the game for what it is now, it’s still not perfect, but I think it deserves a 7/10. It’s come a long way and with such a cool world they created for us I think it’s time to give them a second chance.
