Daybreak Games, the San Diego-based game development studio, proudly announced today that it has raised over $40,000 for Rady Children’s Hospital through its first annual participation in Extra Life, a charitable organization aimed to raise money for hospitals within the Children’s Miracle Network by encouraging participants to stream video games that drive online donations.
Daybreak Games raised the third-highest fundraising total among participating game development companies in the United States, and the highest total among any participating gaming studio in California this year.
Funds raised by Extra Life help heal thousands of children each year, including eight-year-old Kellan Meehan, a heart patient at Rady’s Children’s Hospital, who celebrated Game Day at Daybreak Games on Friday, November 2 with his two best friends, Nathan and Luke.
The $40K fundraising total for the Daybreak Games Extra Life team includes a 100 percent donation match by Daybreak Games, skyrocketing past the original $25K goal set by the team, consisting of game developers and game designers. This contribution from Daybreak Games has added to the more than $8M raised by Extra Life for the Children’s Miracle Network in 2018, more than $2M on Game Day alone.
