Powerful and mysterious, the Archelites were once thought to be allies as they gifted the world of Heryon their infinite knowledge. The peace did not last as something had changed one day, and instead the Archelites used their technology to reign destruction across the land. Their final weapon to decimate the world’s population was the all-consuming Corrosion. A highly contagious and deadly plague that transforms even the healthiest person to a blackened shell. With hope quickly diminishing, a hero will need to quickly rise, solve the mystery, and save the last remains of humanity.
Developed by Midgar and published by Dear Villagers and Maple Whispering Limited, Edge of Eternity has the classic feel of Final Fantasy and the Suikoden series. This turn-based RPG has all the standard ingredients of a hero coming-to-age story. There is Daryon, the main protagonist with his defining haircut, big sword, edgy attitude, and sad beginnings. Then there is Selene, the healer-mage type girl deuteragonist that is also very important to the plot, but not as important as her brother, Daryon. As the gameplay continues, they will encounter quirky side characters to help fight by their side as they travel throughout the land. With the power of the strength, wills, magic, and friendship, they will be the key to solving the pandemic and possibly stopping the war.
The most eye-catching aspect of this game is the lovely artwork as it is gorgeous and detailed. The environment of the land is also very visually pleasing and makes traversing through it quite the sight to behold. Unfortunately, the beautiful crafting does not seem to be fully extended to the avatars in the game as the characters do not look fully rendered. At times body and facial proportions are off and body movement either comes off slow or erratic. Other aspects of Edge of Eternity are a bit glitchy as well as characters will sometimes move positions on screen suddenly. There are also odd blurs as if the camera has gone out of focus and is disorientating during gameplay.
Edge of Eternity feels more like as if all the time was spent on the art and the world design, than on the actual game mechanics and character animations. Not to mention the lackluster dialogue that needs more workshopping to flesh out the characters. It’s difficult to feel empathetic with the heroes and heroines of the story as they aren’t necessarily likable or memorable.
Edge of Eternity certainly still holds potential despite starting off with a generic prologue and feeling unfinished. The mystery behind the Archelites and the Corrosion is intriguing; not to mention the sweet allure of adventure that this game promises. The world of Heryon is beautiful and with plenty of side quests and hidden treasures throughout, this game can keep one entertained for hours. If this RPG wants to stand out from the many others similar to it, more tweaks to the script and correcting the buggy gameplay mechanics will need to be made.
PROS: Beautiful art and world design
CONS: Dull dialogue and glitchy gameplay

Video games have always been a huge influence in my life and have definitely shaped me to who I am today . Some of my best memories growing up were the many adventures and stories I was able to experience and become immersed in. If my hands aren't either covered in clay, typing, editing, creating, or helping shoving food in my mouth, they would either be gripped to a controller, tapping away at the screen of my phone, or clicking away on my PC. I am always up for trying something new because why live just one life when you can live many.
