Well, would you look at that. There is another bitter villain, hell-bent on causing chaos throughout the universe. Evil sorcerers work hard, but small warriors made of fire, work even harder. Developed by Doom Turtle and Published by Twin Sails Interactive, Ember Knights is an action-packed, rogue-lite full of great animation and enemies that love to gang up on players. Luckily, Ember Knights can be played multiplayer and what is more bonding than teaming up to save the universe? Don’t think it will be any less difficult either, as the difficulty levels match to how many players are on the battlefield. An Ember Knight can pack a powerful punch and it’s about time that these monsters find out why you don’t mess with one.
Fight with a sword, a hammer, or staff that zaps out lightning, all that matters is that you kick butt out there. The battles can get pretty crazy, so keep your eyes on the prize and your flame burning bright. Seriously, keep a close eye on which Ember Knight you are. It’s very easy to confuse which character is which when there’s knights, enemies, and flashy skills flying around the screen. When the health bar goes all the way down to zero, it’s back to home word. The skills and stats received while fighting in the different worlds are reset. The only skills that your Ember Knight retains are those that are powered up via the Ember Tree. However, even if you can’t keep those same skills, it would be wise to remember which one works best for you.
Relics and tablets can be found while traveling throughout and these will help expand the knight’s deadly arsenal of skills. As players progress through each area, monsters obviously, become more difficult to fight as well. The enemies are diverse and come with a slew of fancy techniques that will keep even the brightest warrior on their toes. An Ember Knight’s health does not regenerate after the completion of each level (unless a specific skill is selected, or the final boss of a world is defeated). Instead, chicken legs, apples, potions, or the occasional healing Fountain Room will be players only available healing source throughout their rugged journey.
The story and objective is a simple one. Defeat the bad guy, save the universe, and become the hero. Everything else in between is the challenging and fun part. With all the many skills, stats, and weapons to chose from, there are so many different ways to fight through the worlds. Do it by yourself, or do it with a friend, Ember Knights is a game that will have you playing for hours. Good luck out there, little flame, and try your best to not get extinguished!
PROS: Casual and can jump into at any time. Great game mechanics, animation, and equally as addicting and fun to play play solo or multiplayer.
CONS: The areas are limited in size and can feel repetitive after restarting multiple times.
SCORE: 8.5/10

Video games have always been a huge influence in my life and have definitely shaped me to who I am today . Some of my best memories growing up were the many adventures and stories I was able to experience and become immersed in. If my hands aren't either covered in clay, typing, editing, creating, or helping shoving food in my mouth, they would either be gripped to a controller, tapping away at the screen of my phone, or clicking away on my PC. I am always up for trying something new because why live just one life when you can live many.
