Indie developer, Grenaa Games, in partnership with publisher Dear Villagers, is happy to announce the third major update to its wholesome fairytale township builder, Fabledom, will be available starting today, October 16, via Steam Early Access. As well as bringing new key art for the title, this latest update, Fairytales and Community, offers a huge host of new fairytales encounters, including around 50 new world events, 30 objectives, new buildings, and a huge host of quality of life improvements and optimizations.
Some of these magical fairytale encounters include the misunderstood cyclops Eric one-eye, the lost red-hooded girl looking for her grandmother’s house, the witch and her hut, the emissary gnomes, and the fluting faun.
There’s plenty of new world events too, including a merchant selling magic beans and getting to hear from your immediate family. Perhaps they can cut down costs a bit? Furthermore, Fabledom will be getting new monthly and yearly objectives, offering long term goals for dedicated town builders.

This latest update adds several new buildings as well, including the Laborer Guild – as those belonging to the guild can carry more material and construct buildings faster than normal Laborers – a bank that allows you to increase taxes for greater funds at the expense of your fablings’ happiness, a Grand Theatre, and a Fisherman’s Hut that will let you gather seafood from nearby bodies of water.
Other quality of life content and optimizations in Fabledom new update include:
- Added new graphs to help track resource production and consumption
- Added icon to buildings attached to a resource that has been depleted
- Added tax controls
- Can now relocate buildings that have been placed
- Added improved tooltips
- Happiness now effects fabling productivity “if visually seen”
- Added roads with sharp corners
- Added commoners skins
- Added several new vegetables
- Desirability filter
- Windows light up during winter
- Debree now spawns on crop fields in winter, this has to be cleared by the farmers before any more crops can grow
- Flag-lines now automatically generate between townhouses
“The Fairytales and Community update adds so much more depth, intrigue and convenience to Fabledom,” said Max Nielsen, Game Director of Grenaa Games. “The addition of over 50 new events, long-term goals, and new buildings combine to make Fabledom a richer, deeper, more surprising endeavor than ever before! That’s not all, as more updates will follow in the months to come!”
Grenaa Games is a tiny two-person studio, but will work hard to add continual updates to Fabledom throughout the Early Access process. Expect more buildings, types of fablings, fairy tale encounters, expanded romance and diplomacy options, and much more! Below is an updated roadmap of what more you cant expect from Fabledom between now and its emergence out of Early Access.
Fabledom is available for PC via Steam Early Access.
