Missions and Monsters is a DLC for the game Fell Seal: Arbiter’s Mark by developer 6 Eyes Studio and publisher 1C Entertainment. This DLC adds guild upgrades; missions you can send party members away to work on; tamable monsters; and big battles (Check out my Fell Seal base game review!).
Guild upgrades involve a 3×3 grid which buildings can be placed on. These buildings can give you bonuses. The buildings can also improve the bonus they give if they are adjacent to certain other buildings. The bonuses provided only apply to a certain region of the map. Also, all guilds in the same region share a single 3×3 grid. Additionally, these bonuses only apply to away missions and patrols. They won’t help you during story missions.
A new resource, called ‘influence,’ is what is spent to buy guild upgrades, rather than gold. Also, away missions are only available for the first time if you have enough influence. Unlike with guild upgrades however, you don’t need to spend influence to do an away mission. For example, if an away mission has an influence requirement of 25, it doesn’t mean you have to spend 25 influence; it means you need to have 25 influence to do the mission. You earn influence by completing any patrol, story mission, or away mission.
Away missions work more or less the same as they do in other games. You pick party members to send, said party members are unselectable for 30+ minutes. If the mission is successful, the party members return with the rewards, be it gold, experience, AP points, or, in some cases, additional influence points. I don’t know if this goes without saying, but party members who play a role in the game’s story, such as the 3 title characters, can’t be sent on away missions because they ALWAYS need to be available.
While monster taming is supposed to be included in this DLC, I could never figure out how to do it. Either the game doesn’t tell you how to do it, or it only becomes available at a point in the game further than I could reach. Additionally, you can’t buy more monsters at a guild like you can buy more party members.
Big battles are also included in the game, but again, these were hidden away further than I could reach. Supposedly, these battles allow you to field 9 party members against either a mob of enemies or a strong boss enemy. As such, it makes sense for this to be end-game content.
As half the content for this DLC appears to only take effect near the end of the game, I would only recommend getting this DLC if you already like playing the base game of Fell Seal: Arbiter’s Mark.
