Introduction/Information about game
The game, Firegirl: Hack ‘n Splash Rescue DX, by developer Dejima and publisher Thunderful Publishing, was officially released on Steam recently in June 2022. This game is an action game that takes place in a city where fires happen daily. These genres of games are usually fun. This game, however, seemed a bit slower than the other action games I usually play. That being said, I still think that this game is still very well made and would be enjoyable for people who enjoy slower paced action games.
Gameplay
The gameplay task of Firegirl: Hack ‘n Splash Rescue DX is very simple. The player plays as the newly recruited fire girl to help extinguish the fire monsters burning the buildings of the town. Once the player enters the level, they would have to platform and extinguish the fire monsters in order to save the person trapped in the burning building. This is the objective of each level in the game. What the player can do as the fire girl is pretty simple. To break down doors and other rubble, the player can swing their axe. The way the player can take out the fire monsters is with their water pump. Keep watering down the fire monsters until they are extinguished. They can also use the water pump with a jump to gain extra height and reach higher areas in the burning building. However, the water supply is not infinite. The player has to make sure they keep an eye on their water supply or else they won’t be able to fight back the fire. Thankfully, there are areas in each level that can fill up the player’s water supply so they never get stuck.
When player’s finish the level, they head back to the fire station. Here, the player can upgrade their abilities, such as the water supply and water pressure, and equip keepsakes that can help them complete each level faster until another building catches fire (until the next level is ready for the player). The game is made very well in terms of animation and gameplay. I also think that the level design for the game is made very well. As I said before, however, this seemed like a slower action game. I am used to playing faster paced action games, which is the reason this turned me off of the game a little bit. Of course, this game being slower paced can be seen as a good thing. I just think that levels in the game could have been played out a bit faster than it did.
Final thoughts
Overall, Firegirl: Hack ‘n Splash Rescue DX is a fun, but slower paced action game. That being said, the game is still made well and that this game can be really good for people who enjoy slower paced games. If you are the kind of person who wants to try out action games and also wants to go at your own pace, then this is the game for you. Players can buy this game on Steam, as well as many other modern consoles.
