Hearthstone Game Series WORTHY OPPONENTS to Debut by Geek & Sundry this Fall

Los Angeles, CA (July 21, 2016) – Legendary Digital Networks announced today that it has partnered with Blizzard Entertainment for a new web series based on the fan favorite online strategy card game Hearthstone. Premiering on Geek & Sundry later this Fall, “Worthy Opponents” will be hosted by Critical Role’s Matt Mercer and eSports host Rachel “Seltzer” Quirico. Designed for players of every skill level, Worth Opponents will highlight aspiring duelists on their paths to glory, as well as the cunning coaching that has prepared them for their greatest challenges to date.  Worthy Opponents is designed to be an accessible counterpart to the more “hardcore” eSports Hearthstone programming, seeking to allow new players a chance to learn the ins and outs of the game while being entertaining.

In each episode, Matt and Rachel select their own celebrity champion for a head to head in a battle in the tavern. During the match, the hosts will provide comedic commentary to give the audience at home a sense of how each player is faring under the pressure of the game. Though two opponents will enter, only the worthiest will be crowned the winner and claim the title of Tavern Master!
