Indie Toy Soldiers Shooter HYPERCHARGE: Unboxed Achieves 50k Xbox Sales

Since its May 31 release, independent developer Digital Cybercherries‘ critically acclaimed shooter Hypercharge: Unboxed about sentient action toys has sold 50,000 copies on Xbox. Despite the small independent team’s lack of support from a major publisher, the game achieved 25,000 sales in less than a day and has since maintained this momentum, reaching 50,000 copies. With more than 600 reviews, the game presently has a 4.6/5 rating on Xbox.

Joe Henson, Creative Gameplay and Marketing Director at Digital Cybercherries stated, “I’m really overwhelmed by the success of our game on Xbox and can’t thank everyone enough for buying the game. 50,000 sales might not mean much in the realm of AAA, but for our small team of six, in a tough time for the industry, with no support from a big-publisher, selling 50,000 on Xbox in only a few days is really a big deal! Thank you again to everyone who has supported us!”

Hypercharge: Unboxed is a first- and third-person shooter action figure game featuring a full story campaign mode that can be played alone offline or in cooperative online multiplayer with up to four players. It was inspired by movies such as Toy Story and Small Soldiers. Additionally, the game allows for both local and online split-screen gameplay. Hypercharge: Unboxed offers a variety of PvP modes for quick bursts of action figure mayhem if you’re more of a competitive than a cooperative player. Play as a team to defend the Hypercore, withstand waves of unrelenting hordes of weaponized toys, or take part in a classic free-for-all brawl.
