Do you think you have what it takes to move to the beat and stick to the rhythm of several electric tracks? Klang 2, by developer Tinimations and publisher Ratalaika Games, might surprise you and leave you wondering if you were even that great of a dancer in college. It really is a charming game that somewhat reminds me of Beat Saber, but without the VR.
Like I was hinting at, I am not great at Klanging at the club. The tutorial is insightful, but it only goes as far as to tell you how to play with some vague hints. Klang 2 has a sort of Crash Bandicoot vibe, and by that I mean your chances of getting a better score or, more aptly put, getting into the rhythm comes from playing the same stage multiple times. At first I didn’t really feel a rhythm, but it becomes a lot more obvious because the same targets appear at the chorus. As you struggle, you might think “Oh, now I see it!”
The gameplay is not all too difficult, it’s the levels that destroy you. You do not necessarily move yourself, but you use the right analogue stick to aim toward the target and you tap A when the target fully takes shape. You can be too early, too late, or perfect; all of these things affect your final score, which gives you a letter score. Something feels disheartening with the margin between B and A, but that is mostly because I’ve fallen close to 80% but alas … still a B player.
I’m not really sure what the story is. All I can really say is that we play as Sonus, some sort of digital entity, accompanied by A-Eye, a big flashy Eye. We appear to be on the somebody’s bad side, because ghosts are hunting us down and chasing us to the ends of the digital earth. I’m sure more will reveal itself over time. The demo only includes about 30 minutes of content, including 6 stages. You unlock more based on your performance in the stages, coming from the letter grade you received.
I’m a fan of what I see so far. I would definitely consider adding a menu item to listen to these tracks individually. I like most of the tracks already in the game, and I wouldn’t mind just playing them in the background at home too. Also kudos for shouting out the artists! I can see this being a pretty chill game to help unwind.

I like to think of myself as the average Joe who grew up alongside video games. I have fun playing strategy games, RPGs, shooters, sandboxes, the whole shebang! Every game provides an experience whether it strikes you as profound, mundane, or someplace in between. I'd like to weigh in my two cents before you spend a single penny.
