Monster Prom 2: Monster Camp is a multiplayer dating simulation developed and published by Beautiful Glitch and the sequel to Monster Prom. Although it might be good to play the first game in the series, it is not necessary as there is a toggle in customization that allows you to turn off the Monster Prom references which I thought was nice, especially for myself, considering I haven’t played the first game.
Monster Prom 2: Monster Camp comes equipped with 6 datable characters (Joy, Aaravi, Calculester, Dahlia, Damien, and Milo) and many more characters to interact with. The setting takes place at a summer camp and the objective is to stir up a summer romance with the characters for a chance to see the meteor shower together at the end. Of course, there’s the option to go alone and brutal rejection.
In Monster Prom 2: Monster Camp, you can choose to play with up to 3 friends for a 4 player playthrough or you can choose to play solo. A playthrough can have different durations such as a short game or full game which can decrease or increase the number of weeks until the meteor shower.
There are 4 playable characters and the ability to name and provide pronouns for them which I appreciated how inclusive the developers are. Each character has 5 stats: smarts, boldness, creativity, charm, and fun.
In the beginning, you can choose to bring 3 items in your backpack for the trip. These items will increase certain stats. The items appear to be randomized so each playthrough there can be different items to choose from. I believe these items are only used to increase some stats in the beginning because they never appear again after the start. I wish, however, that these backpack items could be somehow used later in the game.
During the game, depending on the duration, there will be a certain number of weeks to interact with the main characters. For solo play, in a short runthrough, there will be 3 weeks until the meteor shower which means that there are 6 activities to do/places to go to boost stats and 2 nighttime campfire activities to boost intimacy with the datable characters. For the full game runthrough, there are 5 weeks until the meteor shower which allows for more interaction with the characters.
Going to specific places on the campsite can increase certain stats. For example, the Lake activity can increase the fun stat. I’m pretty sure stats play a part in deciding if the characters accept your invitation or not but I’m not too certain how the routes work out.
After visiting a location and getting a stat boost, a scenario pops up where you can interact with certain main characters. Who appears in the scene seems to be random but from my playthroughs, it does seem like whoever shows up during the “time to break the ice” choice will show up in all activity scenes. This means that they’re probably your best choice at accepting your meteor shower invitation. These scenes will also have 2 choices that can increase some of your stats or decrease them if you pick the wrong choice.
One unique feature in Monster Prom 2: Monster Camp is the drinking game. At night, after the campfire, there’s a kitten wizard in training that makes a bunch of weird drink combinations. You can choose to take a gamble and play a minigame to get a drink of your choice or you can have the kitten pick a drink for you. Some drinks help you by providing stat boosts, others can mask your stats or switch up your stats. Either way, drinks are necessary and on one playthrough I was even nicknamed after the drink I had to intake. All in all, it’s pretty fun.
As for my rating, I would give Monster Prom 2: Monster Camp a 9.5/10. I did enjoy the story each playthrough and the humor. Everything is well written. There’s so much content to go through (24 secret endings, 344 events, 1134 outcomes, and 73 special stuff). I definitely think it’s worth the price of $11.99 considering how much content you get and how many hours you could spend playing the game. I love how unique it is in that you can play with your friends and each person can try to woo their crush. In addition, the art style is gorgeous and the characters are all likable. I also liked the voice acting that pops up sometimes during different scenarios. Definitely do expect mature content.
One thing that I would love to see though is a save/load feature. Currently, if you exit to the menu during a playthrough, all the data of that current playthrough gets erased. Each playthrough isn’t that long but it would be nice to be able to take a break and come back to the game without losing data or just being able to pick different options/choices during a specific playthrough. The gallery feature isn’t available right now so I don’t know what it has in store so this might be irrelevant but I would love to have a gallery of the pictures that have been seen as well as the drinks that have been unlocked.

Steam Review
I'm a sophomore studying Computer Science at the University of Michigan. I'm really interested in how technology can impact lives through game development. One of the things that I really like about gaming is that, not only is it fun and relaxing, but there are so many ideas you can incorporate into games and their storylines such as meaningful lessons/messages.
