MXGP 2019 Review for PlayStation 4

MXGP 2019 Review for PlayStation 4

*I receive an email from an anonymous source, telling me to prepare for immediate teleportation. Before I can respond, I am teleported to a motor cross event. I am greeted and told that I am to review MXGP 2019. *

Hmm… interesting. Well then, time to explain what MXGP is first, before I dive into the history of the developers!

MXGP stands for Motocross Grand Prix. MXGP 2019 has you participating in the Grand Prix for 2019! (In the game, that is)

MGXP 2019 has the title as the “Official Motocross Videogame”, and after playing through the game a bit, I can see the game definitely lives up to the title!

——-

The developer and publisher of MGXP 2019 is Milestone S.r.l.

Now, beginning the game, I was met with a character customization screen. Now, having seen gameplay of other sports titles, like NBA 2K18, the character customization options weren’t too broad, but I didn’t mind. The first part was choosing how I wanted my character to look like, with the skin color, eye color, facial hair, etc. The next part of the character customization in all sports videogames is who or what they’re representing. In the case for MGXP 2019, it’s countries. So, I scrolled through all of the countries that are participating in the Grand Prix of 2019 until I chose the country that I wanted.

Then, there came the part where I got to choose what motorbike I wanted. And let’s just say, the rest of the customization… yeah, if you guys and gals out there are familiar with any races involving vehicles would know quite more information than I would concerning suspensions and all the parts of a racing vehicle.

With all that said and done, it’s time for me to begin my first time in a Grand Prix. Before the race officially begins, you can set the duration of the qualification round and the race itself, as well as setting the difficulty of the AI of the other racers, and one more thing which really intrigued me: the physics itself. Yep, that means the physics of the racers and the bike.

Now that I set up everything and reading on how the controls work, time for me to race!

*cue footage of me playing one of the maps, attempting to maneuver my way around, only to repeatedly crash and end up last*

Uhh, did I mention that this is my first time…? Yeah…

The controls can seem daunting at first, but with practice, you’ll get the hang of it! Speaking of which, it’s time for me to do my other required task and tell you ALL of the amazing new features MGXP 2019 has to offer!

Now, remember what I said about getting better with practice? Well, if you’re new to the series like I am, you might be wondering, ‘Where else can I practice?’ and to answer that question, there is a special place called “The Playground”! In it, you can drive around anywhere, just for fun, exploration, and of course, practicing your skills. In MXGP 2019, you can use Waypoint Mode to set up checkpoints all around the playground to race yourself against time! Speaking of, that leads to one of the four new activities:

*Gotta Go Faster [than Sonic]– It’s a race against time to cross all checkpoints before time runs out

The other three activities are:

  1. Catch ‘em All (no Pokémon involved) – You must collect all items before time runs out
  2. Ace in the Hole – Amass numerous points by navigating through narrow paths
  3. And last but definitely not the least, Magnum Opus, the ultimate challenge combining all of the objectives above!

Also, to any and all creative mapmakers out there, there is a new Track Editor! It has all of the components of a Motocross track for you to build your own fully customized track of your desires to share with others in the community!

Welp, looks like it’s time for me to go. Before I go, allow me to say, don’t get discouraged to all the gamers playing this for the first time if you guys end up last! Keep practicing properly in the playground and you’ll be pros in no time! One last thing on the list, the score. MXGP 2019 gets a 10/10!

Now, go out there and get dirty! See you all in the next review! *Teleports away*
