Nintendo share holder, Seth Fischer, has written a letter to Nintendo President, Satoru Iwata, stating that he would like to see Nintendo creating mobile titles with in-app purchases. Incidentally, the Wall Street Journal got a glimpse of the letter.
Specifically, Fischer wrote,
We believe Nintendo can create very profitable games based on in-game revenue models with the right development team.
The same people who spent hours playing Super Mario, Donkey Kong, and Legend of Zelda as children are now a demographic whose engagement on the smartphone is valued by the market at well over $100 billion.
Then he added the following, which is sure to make Mario fans scoff,
Just think of paying 99 cents just to get Mario to jump a little higher.
Nintendo President Satoru Iwata has stated that Nintendo just isn’t ready at this moment to bring its games onto the mobile arena.
What are your thoughts about the investor’s idea to create Nintendo mobile apps with in-app purchases?
