In accordance with Nikkei, Nintendo President, Satoru Iwata has agreed to take a 50% pay cut from February until June.
The decision was made in light of Nintendo’s poor performance over the past year.
Two other representative directors of Nintendo, Shigeru Miyamoto and Genyo Takeda, will also take a 30% pay cut, while other board members will take a 20% pay cut.
Depending on Nintendo’s financial health after the five month period is over, the pay cuts will be addressed.
Beginning tomorrow, January 30th, Nintendo will discuss its games business strategy moving forward.
Earlier this month, Iwata ignored calls to resign and stated that he wants to see Nintendo succeed.
