Kingdom Come: Deliverance is a first-person, action-RPG from indie developer Warhorse Studios. It started as an ambitious, realistic take on medieval Europe, and the lack of magic and dragons made it difficult to find a publisher. The team created a Kickstarter campaign to prove to publishers that people desired a game of this nature. After their first goal was reached, they decided to keep it going through development. The game is set to be released worldwide on February 13, 2018 on PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
Kingdom Come: Deliverance takes place in the Kingdom of Bohemia during the 1400’s. The game desired to be as historically accurate in every facet of the game. Whether it’s the look and feel of the castles, the artwork painted on walls, the period-accurate music from Czech musicians, the brutal combat, or the characters themselves you can bet that you will feel like you stepped into a time machine that sent you all the way back. The game follows the son of a blacksmith, whose family and entire village was butchered by an invading army. This will send the player on a classic quest for vengeance. While it may be your run-of-the-mill revenge story, what Kingdom Come: Deliverance offers in the way of player agency will ensure that no two playthroughs are remotely the same.
There is an unprecedented amount of freedom in the open world environment. The player can interact with every NPC they see. Certain actions can lead to a good or bad reputation that can help you hinder you as the game progresses. For example, if the player is wearing dirty, worn-down clothes and attempts to speak to a nobleman, the nobleman will treat him with disdain and it maybe impossible to complete a potential side quest from the NPC.
Every character has their own set of needs that require them to eat and sleep to stay healthy. This also applies to the player’s character as well. Equipment and clothing will deteriorate. Perishables in your inventory will spoil. The player can also drink alcohol and may suffer from a hangover the next day.
The combat uses a brand-new physics system using inverse kinematics to determine how much damage will be applied. This system also causes the player or NPC to react several different ways. Getting shot in the hand with an arrow means the player will be unable to use that hand in combat until it heals, and heals don’t happen in a matter of seconds like most games today. This physics system also makes certain weapons more or less useful in certain situations. For example, a short sword is quick and deadly, but will be ineffective against heavy armor.
NPC’s have their own daily routines that can be affected by the player. If you steal from a merchant, they will tell a guard and refuse to sell to you in the future. They will also tell other merchants in the village to distrust you. When the guards come after you they may attempt to kill you, or you may spend time in jail, pay a fine, etc.

I was born and raised in a town so small there were more cows than people. I joined the USAF as soon as I could, and I currently reside in San Antonio. I am a singer/songwriter on the side, but I've been a gamer since birth. I grew up with PlayStation and Nintendo, though, I don't discriminate between consoles and PC. I have a PC with a 3080, Steam Deck, and a PS5.
