I don’t have a pool, but I know what people say about the difficulty of cleaning a dirty pool after the cold season, with leaves on top of the pool and dead bugs in the water. But this game, Pool Cleaning Simulator, by developers Rubens Games and FreeMind S.A., reminded me of a difficult chore I experienced as a game where the goal was to clean the pool deck. Then decorate after all the dirt you had to remove from top to bottom, making it the cleanest and best pool you can make from your knowledge and what you think the pool should be. The game had unexpected levels but also, an interesting concept of the gameplay, with a chore perspective on the time it takes to get the job done.
A 3D world where a pool is downright nasty that no one wants to put their toe into. It started with a backyard mansion with a dirty pool, of course. I had the chlorine tools like a sponge and hose to wipe out the dirt off the pool. The time of cleaning the pool took about 3 minutes to make sure every inch of the dirt was gone from the pool. The pool then started to fill with water knowing that I completed the task it needed to be decorated for the most part. So I put stuff on the pool like rubber ducks to make the pool look nicer. I even had to fix the machine that was part of the problem, and made me research on what it does to the pool. But even then, I still got to figure out the situation. One thing that got interesting is that I had to clean a murder scene, which was a little scary and I thought, wow, that is a whole lot of blood for a massacre that happened in this letter I received from the game. It was really difficult to get the blood out of the pool deck considering it was an aftermath murder scene that made it look strange. I even threw stuff away from the deck to make it look like nothing happened at all but was unable to get the job done with this task.
Throughout the game, It was mostly the same thing cleaning the deck to make it look nice like what I what I see when I go into a pool, using the right chlorine materials, checking if everything is spotless from top to bottom, and even trying to make it look like a clean place to go swimming in this game.
The game, Pool Cleaning Simulator, was more a chore activity than a game where users get to feel the heat of what is about to come. Each task was more of the same thing that I got tired of from the game thinking I wanted more. The 3D world looks good – not the best I see when it comes to a suburban area design. The game looked alright overall but every task feels like the same thing you have to do over and over again.
Pool Cleaning Simulator is available for PC via Steam Early Access.
