Publisher Abonico Game Works and independent developer Leonard Menchiari, the director of Trek to Yomi,(check out our PlayStation review!) have announced that Path of Fury: Episode I – Tetsuo’s Tower will be available for purchase on the Meta Quest Store starting March 13 at a price of 9.99 USD. Pre-orders are already being accepted. This on-rails virtual reality action game, which is supported by the Quest 2, Pro, and 3 devices thanks to the Spanish studio Nox Noctis, draws inspiration from Chinese Kung-Fu films from the 1980s, such as The Raid Redemption or the Wong Kar Wai series, as well as video games like Time Crisis and the arcade cabinet First of the North Star from the 1990s.

Pre-Orders for Path of Fury: Episode I: Tetsuo's Tower Now Open, Release Date Delayed to March 13

With just your fists and unadulterated willpower, you are thrown into an unrelenting ordeal in Path of Fury: Episode I – Tetsuo’s Tower. Above you, Tetsuo’s fortress builds, with enemies on every floor vying for your life. Your only choice? Get through each and every one of them with a punch.

It’s all about speed and accuracy. You must identify each enemy’s weakness and attack it before they swarm. The odds increase as the floors stack higher. Neither you nor the activity can slow down. Every punch matters in this fierce, high-stakes battle, and hesitating might be lethal.

Game Director, Leonard Menchiari , said,I think VR is at its best when it combines exercise with beautiful, immersive environments, so I tried to create something that could merge those things together. Through this, I was able to craft a linear experience with a strong backstory that despite being very straightforward, still felt different each time. That was the goal at least, but I feel like I got pretty close to what I was aiming for.

Path of Fury: Episode I – Tetsuo’s Tower Key Features

  • Experience the essence of Kung Fu. Players will notice the improvement as they play more and more sessions; the objective is to deliver the strongest blows and accomplish quicker knockouts with the least amount of effort.
  • Linear experience but feels different each time. The game has a compelling background and is made to be relatively simple while also revealing new details and progression components to the user every time they play.
  • Essential training tool component. It pays to be patient. Every adversary has an exploitable vulnerability, thus the more you train, the quicker you’ll defeat them.
  • The combat is in the sweet spot between authenticity and accessibility, created with all players in mind, emphasizing striking while rewarding resistance speed and accuracy, much like in kung-fu.
