Gather ’round the fire and survive the arctic night
Tencent Games has just released the second teaser trailer for Night Mode in Ring of Elysium. The new game mode was teased last week with the release of the first trailer and an exclusive new webpage. The second trailer has just been released along with more details on what players can expect to encounter in Night Mode.
More Intense Match Starts
Players in Ring of Elysium are able to start a match where they choose by selecting a landing site on the map. In Night Mode, all 60 players taking place in the match will be dropped into the same area. What usually is a sprawling map, has also been reduced in Night Mode down to a quarter of its usual size; making for intense battles right from the start.
Weather Cycles
While the elements are usually a factor in Ring of Elysium, they become even more so in Night Mode. While a normal match may see different types of weather, Night Mode will cycle through several types of weather within every match, players will face light snow, heavy snow, and extreme cold. While hypothermia is a potential factor in a usual match, players are guaranteed to deal with it during Night Mode as well as varying amounts of snowfall.
Sensible Body Temperature System
Escaping an area before hypothermia sets in isn’t uncommon in Ring of Elysium, but in Night Mode, bracing against the cold will be a constant factor for players. To avoid rapid blood loss players will need to keep up their body temperature by eating food throughout the match. Snacks such as canned foods and bars will provide small amounts of increase to a player’s body temperature, while cooked food will provide the highest amount. The Sensible Body Temperature system will be measured separately from a player’s HP and will not affect the use of bandages or medical cases.
Bonfires
Players will be able to create one bonfire in each Night Mode match. Bonfires can be utilized to make cooked foods to help better sustain a player’s Sensible Body Temperature as well as to illuminate a player’s area. The intensity of bonfires can be increased through the use of fuel such as firewood and can help players to cook food at a faster rate.
Single Match Time
Night Mode matches will have a set match time for players to have to survive and battle through. Throughout each set match time, players will experience all of the possible varying weather conditions as they attempt to survive throughout the night.
Claiming Victory in Night Mode
In order to come out victorious in Night Mode, players will need to survive the cold and enemy players until sunrise. Any players that make it through the set match time alive will be counted among the victors for the match and will be greeted with the triumphant rise of the sun.
Night Mode will be coming to Ring of Elysium this December, players can look forward to the third and final trailer within the coming weeks and can stay up to date on Night Mode by heading to the official landing page. Ring of Elysium is available to play now for free on Steam.
