The game Sands of Salzaar releases officially for PC via Steam today, December 16, 2021. This game is an open world strategy RPG that takes place in a desert setting. As the player plays through the game, they will encounter many obstacles that will help shape the story in the game. Every choice the player makes shapes their story. Of course, I am not very good at strategy based games such as this one. Although I was not very good at it, I believe Sands of Salzaar is a very good and fun game to play.
Gameplay
The gameplay in Sands of Salzaar is made very well. When starting the game, the player will be able to choose their character’s class. From different choices of mages and warriors, the player can find a playstyle that is right for them. Once they choose their player, they are thrown right into the game. The player is in control of what they want to do in the game right off the bat, which is something I feel many players will enjoy. While the player explores the big open world, they can battle enemies and level up their party to get stronger. The player can also gather materials to upgrade their equipment. They can even complete quests and help the people in the world.
The battle system is simple in terms of controls. The player can attack (close up or ranged depending on what class they choose) and dodge. The enemies aren’t that hard to defeat, but they come in huge numbers, so strategy truly is key to win every battle. As the player strengthens their party, they can upgrade their characters to get new skills for battle. There is very little tutorial in Sands of Salzaar, however, other than how to battle and how to explore. This is not a problem in sandbox mode, but becomes a bigger problem in story mode. Of course, there is still a direction that the game puts the player on when playing story mode, but to me, it felt unclear where the directions were supposed to lead me. Of course, that didn’t affect the amount of fun I had while playing the game. Battling the enemies and exploring the world was a very fun experience.
Final thoughts
Overall, the game Sands of Salzaar is a very well made and very fun game. This game has a great world to explore and a great battle system to battle your enemies. As I said before, I was not very good at this game. I was not good at making a strategy and ultimately, that led me to getting defeated a lot in battle. However, that did not affect the amount of fun I had. I had a lot of fun with this game, so I think that even if you are not that good at strategy, you should try this game. Ultimately, I believe that if you are a master at strategy or just enjoy exploring an open world, then there is no doubt that this is the game for you.
9/10
