SimCity – Update 4.0 Detailed

SimCity’s Senior Producer, Kip Katsarelis, detailed some of the free new content that came with today’s Update 4.0.

Specifically, when it comes to Edgewater Bay, Katsarelis said: “This is the first new map the studio is rolling out. It is a seven city region in which all cities are connected. Together, they all look into a bay. There is one great works site that all players work together on. Most cities sit along the water and you’ll notice a much deeper green color palette. It’s quite beautiful.”

Also, as a thank you from the Maxis Emeryville studio, players will find a unique new park in their game. “The Launch Park caters to medium wealth residents and improves your happiness in the city. Players will notice that the park will periodically launch a Turtle, Cheetah, Llama, Heart and Cloud hot air balloons into the air. This park will be available for a limited time, before it’s put in our vault.”

Maxis has re-enabled Region Filters, so players will now be able to search for open games by Map Name, Sandbox Mode, and Abandoned Cities. In addition, the Global Market has been re-enabled, so prices will now fluctuate during gameplay.

Players will also receive new and free content:

• New map, and
• An exclusive limited release park
