Sonic the Hedgehog’s New Fan Celebration with “Racing Around the World” Revealed by SEGA

The Sonic Team today unveiled Racing Around the World, their newest marketing campaign, which this year highlights Sonic’s defining traits of speed and attitude. Racing Around the World will bring the Sonic community together through motivation, inspiring fans to reach their greatest potential and go above and beyond in favor of the upcoming video game release Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds. This comes after last year’s Fearless: Year of Shadow campaign, which celebrated the legendary Shadow the Hedgehog and his significant contribution to a number of media projects, such as the third Sonic film and the video game SONIC X SHADOW GENERATIONS.

In order to launch the campaign, SEGA has partnered with Red Bull and their internationally recognized high-speed stunt driver Brandon Semenuk, who has won five Red Bull Rampage Championships, three American Rally Association National Championships, and is the first person to ever win five Rampage titles, among many other notable accomplishments. In order to thrill Racing Around the World fans, they collaborated to produce the best stunt racing movie ever. The clip, which features entertaining Easter eggs from Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds scattered throughout the video, previews a new edition in Red Bull’s acclaimed stunt racing film series as part of the partnership. Brandon Semenuk stated, “Before I ever sat in a real race car, I was playing Sonic the Hedgehog, racing games, really anything with speed. That was my intro to racing. It all started with pixels and a controller, but the obsession with going fast was real from day one. Getting to work with SEGA on this project was full circle–bringing racing into more people’s hands the same way it started for me.”
