Spider-Man By Sony & Insomniac

If you are a gaming fanatic, a PlayStation 4 lover, and your favorite Marvel superhero just happens to be Spider-Man, then this just might be the game that you fall in love with. Off the back of the most recent Marvel film, Infinity War, which hit the big screens not too long ago, comes a brand new console game, which sees a Spider-Man that has perfected his powers. Become Peter Parker in the newest addition to the franchise and experience the thrill of balancing your real life and fighting crime.

Sony Interactive Entertainment and Insomniac Games have created yet another exhilarating game, which is flying off the shelves at an alarming rate. Having been pre-ordered by thousands, this game has not disappointed those that have already indulged into Marvel’s Spider-Man and been swinging from building to building ever since. This isn’t just any series addition though – in fact, it has brought some controversial topics of conversation into the franchise.

Although the LGBT+ community is being accepted on a much wider scale by today’s society, there are still some people in our communities who still feel strongly against this. Those who are LGBT+ deserve to be safe and able to express their feelings outright like everyone else, however they don’t always feel safe and they aren’t always given the chance to express who they are due to hate crime. The new Spider-Man game has incorporated the colorful rainbow flag that identifies the LGBT community into the game in a very positive way. The flag is featured hanging up on the side of a building and empowers those who are LGBT+, by showing that you can be safe to be you in New York City. The message is incredibly powerful and stylishly subtle and Sony and Insomniac have done a fantastic job by incorporating it into their new game.

Although Insomniac Games and Sony Interactive Entertainment seem to have done a fantastic job with designing this game, we’ve certainly seen Spider-Man adapted across a number of different platforms throughout the years by other game providers (Playtech and Ubisoft come to mind) who have offered their own spin on the game. This new version of the game seems to have advanced massively, with graphics and values being of a much higher standard and quality. So, what does make this version of Spider-Man really stand out from previous games?

In this new PlayStation 4 game, you will become Peter Parker who has been fighting crime and using his spidey-powers for about eight years. He will be knowledgeable and experienced, so fighting your enemies will seem easier – after all, in eight years of being a hero he has ended up with his fair share of them! Villains including The Scorpion, Rhino and Negative Man, will all be putting up a fight against you, Spider-Man.

Marvel’s Spider Man comes to life as you web-swing from building to building and it has been made apparent that the graphics available in this new release are certainly a step up from previous editions in terms of realism. However, there was a minority of gamers, who took to Twitter to complain that the graphics in the 2018 PlayStation 4 game, compared to the game’s demo was left a lot to be desired. They felt that there was a downgrade! Although the Insomniac Community Director responded and declared that there was no downgrade, players still continued to insist that there was by taking screenshots and pictures of the Spider-Man demo and comparing them to the recent version of the game.

So, with all this contentious talk about how good the game really is, is it actually worth buying? Games that rely heavily on the character’s movement need to be well put together to make you feel like you genuinely are Spiderman and have full control of the game. With all of the debatable reviews out in the open and having seen the popularity that this game has shown, it appears to be a game that is still defiantly worth a buy! Be Spider-Man and web-swing in the famous Spidey-suit, before returning to the life of Peter Parker with Marvel’s Spiderman currently in stores.
