Strayed Lights is a game that is scheduled to come out to be released by April of 2023 via Steam. This game is an action-adventure game developed and published by Embers & Embers S.A.S. where you are a tiny, growing light seeking transcendence in a land of ruins filled with rogue shadow creatures. I love action-adventure games, so I was really excited to be given the opportunity to play a preview of this game. I would say for first impressions of this game, I was blown away with the concept and gameplay mechanics that the developers have gotten so far. I think they are going down a very good path for the game Strayed Lights.
Gameplay
The gameplay for Strayed Lights has a very unique battle system that I really enjoyed while playing. There are also big worlds that are asking to be explored. The game starts the player out in a ruined area as a tiny light. As the tiny light, the player will follow a path to get an idea of how movement works and feels, as well as to see what the worlds of the game will be like. Once the player reaches a certain area down the path, the light grows and encounters their first rogue shadow creature. This is where the game will teach the player the combat system. The combat system for this game has a mix of utilizing both attacking and parrying. The player also has to choose what color their light is if they want to parry effectively. The player has to be the same color as the attack the enemy shows. I think that is one of the reasons that my favorite part of this combat system is the parrying and how important it is. If the player wants to parry an enemy attack properly, they must think about the timing of the attack as well as what color the attack is. It adds more to the battle system and makes it more unique, which I really love and enjoy. When the player completes the tutorial, they are able to explore the different worlds to start completing the actual objective of the game. The worlds in the game look beautiful, as well as very fun to explore. The level design is also made very well for this game.
Final thoughts
Overall, I believe the game, Strayed Lights, is going down a very good path. The developers have created a great and unique combat system, as well as beautiful worlds the player can explore. From what I have seen and played, this game looks and already feels amazing, and I hope that development continues to go well as the developers start to finish. If you enjoy action-adventure games, a great world to explore, and a really great and unique combat system, then I highly recommend players to look into Strayed Lights. The game has a release date to come out in April 2023 on Steam, PlayStation, Xbox, and Switch.
